I was unable to describe to Mary that her father will no longer into the room and pick her up or even tell her stories at bedtime. I also urged her brother, Edward Jr. to not try to mention it to her, but support and take care of her as best as he can. Mary was growing up and meanwhile this whole time I was telling her stories of her father and everything that happened between him and me inclusive the part with Bertha and how she burned the house down. Edward Jr. looks a younger version of his father, finally happy and married to a wonderful wife who is expecting her first son within this year. They would fight so bad in front of me that it affected me with my school work, sports and social life. What made this whole thing even worse was when he looked at my grandmother and just said “where is the baby”? That took a few days to figure out but at the time he was ill my wife was pregnant with our little girl. When we finally realized he kept asking about our baby he kept smiling upon talking about her. Our little girl was born a day earlier than her due date in November. After we were able to leave the hospital we went straight over to my grandfather’s house to show him that the baby was here.

My name is Reena. I live with my parents, my grandmother, and my three older siblings. After grandpa died, my grandma came to live with us, and she has been our main guardian while my parents are off at work during the weekdays. She was more of a mother to me and my brothers solely because she was simply around more. Always teaching us to pull our own weight around our house, and essentially preparing us for the war that would devastate our country for over a decade.
I suffered some serious health issues that kept me off work for a while and ultimately led to the loss of a job. Vivian had graduated high school and wanted to start college in Texas as well.
