The first fleet under Arthur Phillip arrived in Australia on the 26th of January 1788 and was the first European settlement and penal colony at Sydney Cove, New South Wales. It is on this day, every year, Australia Day is celebrated. Diving down the Westport road, I park my car at the event parking lot in Pennsylvania Ave. It’s past 9:00 on a Friday night. The sound makes me walking in the Europe Street, but there is not in Europe. In addition, the atmosphere is to my liking such as not Kansas City. Usually, living a Kansas City is not living in an urban city. Sure thing is that most people who live in Kansas City think Kansas City is urban.
For this reason the Bateaux has lived up to its fame and has provided an amazing view, service, and top quality dining. The view that the Bateaux offer is hard to come by in the City. With the trip being four hours it feels like it should be longer with half of the time spent of the cruise ship is spent watching the amazing views. The cruise ship first takes off and sails around Manhattan to give you a great view of the city from the Hudson River. Then it passes under the Brooklyn Bridge slowing down to give everyone the chance to go outside and take pictures of the bridge.
The best mornings were during the summer season when the town would be greeted by the dazzling rays of the sun, seemingly rising from the top of the snowcapped Mt. Kenya, One of the two phenomenal mountains with snow in the continent of Africa. In the evenings, the sun would sink into the Aberdare ranges overlooking the town on the Western side, leaving a brightly colored orange sky beaming over the town. Nanyuki, despite its size had more visitors from all over the world than most of the major towns within the country. This was because it was the gateway to the snowcapped Mt.
But, like Chicago in the nineteenth century, Chongqing is revitalizing itself with explosive growth, into a “zone of high-rise glass-and-concrete office buildings, and neon-lit shopping malls.” Chongqing is considered the gateway to undeveloped lands, and is a center of commerce. The drive is from the vitality of the people who live there. It is not an aesthetically pleasing city. Pollution has become a serious issue, and industrial smog covers the city. Although there are many similarities between the development of Chicago and Chongqing, the speed and scale of Chongqing’s development is unprecedented and puts it in a class of its own.
Alexander Hamilton was the first Secretary of the Treasury. Three years before the American Revolution, Hamilton was an orphan working in the Virgin Islands as a merchant's clerk. George Washington chose Hamilton to advise George Washington and create a financial plan to carry America out of war debt. During the early years of the republic, Hamilton led the transformation of a broken country into a commercial and industrial all-powerful country. Thomas Jefferson, known as the son of the enlightenment, was born in 1743 in Shadwell, Virginia.

This is the reason why the colonial history of Virginia is important. As one of the thirteen colonies that united to declare independence from the British crown, Virginia has come a long way from being a Southern British colony to a thriving metropolitan state. 1 Early Days It all started in mid-1606, when the king of England, King James I, gave a land grant to two English companies to settle in what is now modern-day Virginia, as the king tried
Mid-century, Puerto Rican revolutionaries met with others in New York to plan the independence and liberation of Puerto Rico from Spain. In 1898, the United States declared war on Spain and, as victor of the war, took Puerto Rico as a possession -- beginning the colonial relationship that persists to the present day.
