My Dream Catcher: My Dream Catcher and My Faith Many times throughout the day, I reaffirm my faith in my Creator…my Higher Power through the embracing of my dream catcher. My dream catcher hangs from my rear view mirror inside my car. Every time I enter my vehicle I make sure that I embrace my dream catcher followed by a small prayer for guidance, safety, and care by my Higher Power. By doing this seemingly effortless and simplistic routine, I begin my day and my journey feeling strengthened and empowered by my faith and my Creator. I have a sense of relief that I am in good hands and that my day’s journey will guide me to the exact destination that I am supposed to arrive at while knowing all along that I am doing exactly what my Creator has laid out for me to do. It brings forth comfort, joy, and strength to be a part of something so miraculous and grand, and originating from my Native American culture. Dream catchers are very much a part of my Native American culture. Its design has an array of symbolic meaning and is highly regarded by all Native American Tribes in its own right. The design of the dream catcher is intended to teach natural wisdom. Nature is life and everything living moves and flows in a circle. Its design has a circle representing the circle of life. There is only one circle because there is only one Creator. The circle is made from tree branches or twigs. Inside the circle is a web that is intended to catch or stop any bad dreams or bad energy from passing through the circle. The web can be woven from twigs, string or horsehair. It protects not only your dreams, but your thoughts, feelings and flow of energy as well. Attached to the circle are feathers that hang from thin strips of leather.
