My Daddy's Childhood Waking up bright an early, feeding the hogs, feeding the chickens, going to school, and working in the fields right after school was daddy's daily routine as a child. He was stuck in the heat of the day, while I was stuck inside under the nice cool air conditioner. As a child, my daddy grew up differently than what I did, though they are a few similarities. Currently, education is a major part of society. When my daddy attended school, receiving an education was not a big deal. During that time, dropping out of school was the style. People are frowned upon if they drop out of school now. My daddy always emphasized that receiving an education was important. Although he graduated from high school, he attended college. My daddy worked in the fields as a child, and also attained a job as a teenager. My only job consisted of babysitting. Daddy acquired a real job at an early age. I worked a simple job, earning just enough to spend on myself. Daddy was always the type that did not want me to work. He always told me that working ruined his childhood and teenage years. He told me to enjoy my teenage years as long as I could. He wasted no concern over me obtaining a job if I did not need one. Daddy's strict childhood did not allow him much freedom. His parents kept a close watch on him. Work and school remained the two important aspects during my daddy's childhood life. Daddy allowed me to spend the night with friends and gave me as much freedom as a little girl should have. His parents did not allow him to date until he was almost 18 years old. He allowed me to date at the age of 16. He did not get the fun and freedom allowed to me as a child. His life consisted of just work and school. Technology is another resource that my generation takes advantage of and something that daddy did not have as a child. At sixteen, I received my first
