My Culinary Passion Hello my name is Nicholas ******* and I was born in ** *******, Michigan. I am the oldest of four boys, one blood brother and two half brothers from my father’s side. As you have gathered my parents are divorced. They separated when I was in first grade, and my mother haven been granted custody of my brother and I moved us to Nebraska where all of her family resided at. I spent most of my childhood bouncing around from city to city living with my mother’s family members and then step parents. At the end of sixth grade I decided that it was time for me to live with my father and so I moved back to the only home that was a constant while growing up. While attending high school in Michigan I stumbled into my career choice and undying passion for cooking and the culinary arts. I have chosen a career in the culinary industry because it’s the one thing in my life that I am most passionate about. I enjoy and love all aspects of kitchen work. I started my career in a family style Italian restaurant at the age of 14. I was brought on board their team as a dishwasher like most kids my age but within six months I was promoted and given the opportunity to be a line cook. The day that I became their youngest line cook was quite chaotic. All but one cook from the pizza department had quit their employment. The owner knew that previously I would help out on the line in my free time, so he asked me to cook and just to do my best and get him through the night and he would reward my hard work and efforts. The fast paced environment and split second decision making was absolutely perfect for me and I knew from that day on that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. My efforts were rewarded in the best way possible looking back. I was deemed a prodigy after three months of training and when the owner hired a new executive chef he was instructed to
