Laverne Jones Professor Elliott English 101 September 01, 2012 Graduation Day Have you ever imagined what your college graduation day would be like? Most of us have been to a graduation ceremony or know someone who has moved to another grade. However, graduation day is a reality for me. I graduated from the College of Office Technology in 2001. I was so excited and nervous at the same time as I received my diploma in Microcomputer Business Systems. I am delighted to tell about my shopping experience, the actual ceremony, and the celebration that accompanied my big day. December 16, 2001 I was out shopping for the perfect dress. This dress needed to stand out like an award because that’s how I felt that day: honorable. My mom and I went to several stores until we found a nice one piece brown and black suede dress. Next, it was time to find shoes and other accessories. My mom and I talked and laughed as we hit the pavement and shopped more. We finally found shoes that would complement my dress and other trendy items for the both of us. I was so excited I couldn’t believe that I would be graduating from college that night. After we were done shopping my mom and I went home to get dressed. At seven o’clock that evening, all the students were due in the hall to be seated until the ceremony began .I remember looking around at all my peers; everyone was dressed in the same black cap and gown with a burgundy tassel. The hall was noisy with all the people coming in and greeting one another. People were taking pictures with their loved ones, and my mom, aunt, boyfriend and a couple other family members and friends were there. I was showered with gifts and my boyfriend gave me a dozen pink roses. Soon after that, the hall came to complete silence and the ceremony began.
