The first action that Company Q could take to improve its attitude toward social responsibility would be to donate the outdated food to the local food bank. All the food that goes to waste in the dumpster is just going to a landfill and will not be used for human consumption. It is not socially responsible to create more waste when the outdated food can be used and consumed to help those who are in need. The company states that they are worried about employees taking food and claiming that the food is a donation. If Company Q is worried about this happening with employees, they could only allow owners or store managers to decide what is donated.
Lack of equipment could’ve been one of factors that contributed to our errors. During this lab, we only had access to one spatula. Due to the lack of time we continued to use this one spatula despite the fact that it may not be cleaned properly and could still be dirty. The dirty spatula could’ve caused our results to be inaccurate because the different samples could’ve mixed causing the color of the flames emitted to vary. Another error that we made was due to lack of equipment once again.

Food should be served at the correct temperature; temperature should be monitored if food is kept in warming trays. 1.2 The main reason for implementing food safety is to keep individuals from becoming ill due to food not properly prepared. In a large setting such as banquets, weddings or group gatherings you can make a large portion of the population ill by not following proper food safety. These illnesses can range from mild (upset stomach, headache) to severe (death). Food should be thrown out or refrigerated after being left out for 2 hours.
No Impact Man Colin Beavan made the ultimate life-changing sacrifice by doing the No Impact Project. In the book No Impact Man, Beavan’s methods were probably a little improbable to the average Joe. One of the methods Beavan did was turning off electricity completely in his apartment to stop releasing carbon in the air. Also, Beavan bought food from only a 250 miles radius and only used reusable grocery bags. Though Colin Beavan completely changed his lifestyle to make a positive impact on the environment, not everyone can completely change because of the lack of time, discipline or capital, but we can always cut down on the negative effects that we apply on the earth.

Although there are good resources in place to nurture and challenge students in our schools, the methods of assessment for placement are out-dated.
