Abstract Welcome to my life with music. Music has played a role in many lives, some more than others, but for most of us, we can relate certain music to periods of time in our lives both good and bad. In some cases, music either soothed our soul or changed our mood by being a constant we can rely on. We have our favorite types of music and artists, and we can use this as an outlet or a coping skill. This paper will enlighten you as to how I remember music throughout my life, from when I was a little child to present day. I hope that you will enjoy reading this and maybe even relate to what I felt when reading my story. Music in My Life Music comes in many styles and sounds and has been a part of our cultures for many, many years. When talking about music we differ in our opinions and variations about what we heard, how it made us feel, and if we liked it or not. There is music out there that has touched us in one way or another, be it by mood, emotion or just the sound itself. There’s the rhythm, the melodies, the chorus, just to name a few aspects that get etched into our brains and become a part of our lives. The songs that make us want to listen to them over and over again are the ones that touch us either on a personal level or just by simply sounding good. Childhood My earliest days of music that I can remember came when I was about five or maybe six years old. The year was 1976 or 1977 and I can remember getting a little record player for Christmas. It looked like a little suitcase that opened up to reveal a record player. Of course along with it were some records. I was excited that I had my own record player but wondered what to do with it. My grandfather, a lover of most music, showed me what to do. We took the record and put it on the player and out came this heavy sound! It was a record that had some rock artists with different
