Like many people, from an early age I found that music provided a doorway into my own feelings, without which those feelings may have been much less accessible. As childhood passed into adolescence, architecture joined music in this role, and both of them now occupy central places in my life, in which feeling and reasoning seem to work together productively. Music has been playing in this world for many centuries. It has witnessed the fall of Rome, the birth of Christ, the rise and fall of communism, many wars and disputes. The healing power of music can range from the obvious, like a benefit concert to the hidden as if when we hear a song that takes us back in time and bring up memories related to past events, people, etc. Music has many qualities and has gone through many experiences that taken it to the place it is today. Music has created its own life form from generation to generation with each one putting in its own unique style. The inventions music has witnessed has made it more portable and accessible. And even though music has been around for such a long time one thing has been constant and that is that Music has blended and changed with society and its needs. Renaissance architect Leon Battista Alberti said that the same characteristics that please the eye also please the ear. Musical terms such as rhythm, texture, harmony, proportion, dynamics, and articulation refer both to architecture and to music. The beauty is that music can vary and create different moods. Architecture is exactly the same. It can vary and create different moods. Our world would be a boring place if each did not evoke variety, progress, and inspiration. Within this, music relies upon architecture just as architecture relies upon music. From that, our world will always thrive on both.
