One example is that, they serve food from different cultures as part of their meal plans for the children. This way, they can encourage the children to try other cultures food as this probably the most exciting way to teach two and three year olds about other cultures. At most nursery’s there will be many practices put in place to welcome children with disabilities. One way that nursery’s do this is that they will have very easily accessible entrances, exits, play areas and facilities. This mean that if they were caring for a child that was in a wheel chair, there would be nowhere that the child couldn’t access.
Krys Robinson January 29, 2013 Diversity in US Culture Children’s television programs today, I feel are doing a good job of introducing cultural diversity to children who are growing up in culturally isolated areas or have little interaction with children of other ethnicities. Many children these days are home schooled or come from less diverse rural areas. Television shows and cartoons can bring experiences right to a child and through story telling can teach tolerance, acceptance and the diversity of today’s world. I focused mainly on early childhood geared cartoons, having watched quite a few with my own children over the years. There are many cartoons where the main character uses another language combined with English to teach second language skills.
There is a family night where the kids prepare healthy snacks for their parents. The Children’s Hunger Alliance also has many physical education programs and uses volunteers in the area to promote healthy eating and activity. The Children’s Hunger Alliance also lobbied to get healthy snacks in school vending machines and helps spread the word about the free/reduced meal programs at school. The organization works with the Ohio State Senate and Congress to implement healthy programs for Ohio
Often, the display should be the representation of the children’s own work. However, posters, published materials or good quality photographs can be used when the children’s own work is not available. The display should always have a clear title, a year group label and should have a short explanation of the task / learning objective. In order to enhance and enrich the displays, all the labels could be printed by school staff or children using their computer skills. It is also important that the class teacher uses a range of questions to draw attention to the display and encourage interaction.
For example, in GHS we have a fully inclusive education system. All SPED Students are integrated within the mainstream classroom whenever possible and as long as the general ed. classroom is the least restrictive environment for the students. This is very helpful to those students with autism for example, who are trying to develop their socialization skills; however, if a child has severe cognitive disabilities they can not be expected to learn the full extent of the material that the mainstream students do, so modification of work and identifying each student's strengths and weaknesses early in the year is essential to their progress over

The collages will be collected upon the backpack return and displayed around the classroom once all the students have had their turn. Nutrition: This section we are asking you to play the grocery store challenge. How this is played is each family member is given five (5) minutes to run into the kitchen and come back with as many healthy and nutritious items they can find, the person with the most items wins. A book has been provided to help with understanding what are the good choices to make. Mama Bear notices Papa and the cubs are getting chubby so they change their eating habits to be healthy.
The idea I imagine would be the easiest way to prepare them for these skills would be to create a list and chart of what they should know this would be my idea example of creativity. The Webster’s definition of innovation reads: the introduction of something new a product or service. My definition of innovation is to actually produce the product or service with implementation that it is a work in progress. I recently built a poster board of facts for my preschool class in which I placed ideas of what basics they should know before starting kindergarten. I pasted pictures of the 8 basic colors, shapes, all twenty-six letters of the alphabet and their names and birthdays.
Global and Diversity awareness are inter-related in our everyday lives throughout the world. The first example that comes to mind is how schools are now using text books, films and other study materials that show images of people from all walks of life. Seeing these images helps children learn from a young age that others are learning and growing just as they are even if in a different language or culture. This also helps to show that although someone may look different they are affected by similar if not the same circumstances. Another example is affirmative action.
Field Experience/Observation I chose to observe at two local preschools. The reason for this was because I wanted to be able to compare and contrast their programs. It was a wonderful experience to see the differences in the different program. I picked a preschool that focuses on learning through play and the other school has a more academic focus. I was able to spend several hours at each school and entering each school took me back to being a child and brought back so many memories of the preschool I attended as a child.
