Human life has grown within the privileges of animals around us to help us survive, but the world is developing from meat being a delicacy to a big part of modern day diets. Between 1961 to 2011 world meats consumption has increased by 250 million tonnes . However, as the world develops more choices become available to us as meat alternatives, already we have quorn meat which contains no meat products at all. Also the scientific department is developing GM crops which could allow us to grow meat products without actually using or harming any animals in the process.
The word stewardship can mean two things, firstly we can view it as we as humans have been given the right and authority to care for the world so therefore we have the right over animals so we should be able to treat them as we like and use them for our purposes, as read in genesis ‘And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”’ . Other views of stewardship believe because we have the authority to care for the world, we have the authority to care for all the animals and plants as well, which involves not hurting them to suit our own needs ‘The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it’ . The biblical view of stewardship is that "Utilizing and managing all resources God provides for the glory of God and the betterment of His creation." This view would imply that we should use God’s creation to suit our own needs even if it does harm animals.
Although some people believe we have the right to use animals for our benefits are these actions governed more by greed, that we use animals...
