Every student goes through some good and bad teachers. A few select teachers have the power to engage students on a completely new level. This gives the student an automatic confidence boost and the wanting to succeed in the subject. I have had the opportunity to experience one of the best. Pete Tarnish was an outstanding teacher who was able to communicate well with his students, care deeply about them, and be a great family man.
He acts and feels happy to meet the project leaders as well, from Danziger to Rossoff. This constancy continues all the way though the book, with Julia, Felix, and even Jake, who Simon begins to fear soon after. His amiability allowed him to meet, greet, and befriend new people easier and made his reactions easier for the reader to grasp. His happiness and attitude towards others depict him as an outgoing person as well. Simon’s curiosity stays with him throughout the book, from when he first joins the project, to Jake’s meeting with Carmody.
Dr. Pausch reflects on his elementary school years and tells the audience that despite times of inferiority due to his size, Pausch felt quite competence in this time frame. Pausch formed a list of dreams and goals that he set for himself during this age. He lists and describes each dream, raging from collecting large stuffed animals at fairs to working with Disney Imaginers, and recounts the process to achieve these goals. Creating this clear path for his dream shows the comfortable sense of who Pausch was and what he desired in life. Dr. Pausch was well aware of his identity.
Prejudice was a good topic to talk about and to be recognized, and Battle Royal fit the toll perfectly. I had the idea of prejudice, but I was able to elaborate on it more with the help of my classmates and professor. I would also like to acknowledge and thank my friend Christopher Martin for reading over my paper and giving helpful insights. I always find that a peer knows how to understand what one is trying to say or help to make sense of it. He offered a lot of help and was willing to make notes on my paper to attempt at helping me make my paper the best it could possibly be.
In every test or quiz given to them, they get mastery or above on them because they study and read over their notes every night. They encourage and empower me to renew my commitment to my education. Whenever I don’t feel motivated or just feel like giving up, I think of them and remind myself that they didn’t reach that level naturally or because they are geniuses. They reached that level because they took advantage from the beginning and practiced good study habits so the information stuck to them. And so in short, they worked hard for it and put effort into it.
Kathleen Schultz Professor M. Slattery December 21, 2011 IDS/Creative Voice Final Exam: Dream Curator INSPIRATIONS As I sat in front my computer prepared to write a paper called the “Dream Curator” and thinking about all of the art projects that were presented in class, I have to say over all they were very inspiring. The artists themselves were inspiring as well. All in all they all really put fourth a great effort. I chose the theme “Inspirations” because, as the artists stood and talked about their projects I frequently heard the artists say the words“ it inspired me”. I could see that many of the projects were inspired by childhood memories, passions, music, even culture.
It makes me want to get in the word and commit like him. He is a wonderful role model. I really thought it was cool to be inside his head on games that I physically watched on TV. It was cool and through out the book I found myself saying, “So that’s how that happened.” I just really respect Tim Tebow for his commitment to his team and anything he does. I also liked knowing his background and childhood.
I enjoyed the ability to just go from one place to another such as, going to a meeting at a different school, going on field trips with the kids, and even working in the classrooms. I was never bored at Toddler Tech and each day was something for me to look forward too. And it also helped me to stay in good shape. Whereas, FedEx I am sitting in a cubicle throughout my entire shift. I hate the back to back calls with
When entering a classroom, a knowledgeable student always goes directly to his seat and promptly takes out the previous night's lessons so that he might review it once more before the start of class. A knowledgeable student knows things such as the multiplication tables all the way up to twenty, and how to diagram every sentence that he hears. A wise person dresses in a fashion that suits him, so that he is conformable, not worrying what everyone else around him thinks. Upon entering a room, a wise person casually greets their friends, engages in a little conversation and then continues on with their business, knowing that it is important to let people know that you always enjoy talking with them. A wise person knows things such as the importance of dates and times and why things should happen.
For instance, Mr. Alexander was so thrilled a students’ newfound understanding of a problem that with a burst of excitement he punched his fist through his classroom window. His undying passion for math persuaded me to create the same amount of passion for it also―with less pain, but as time has passed this passion has faded along with my math smarts. “Courtney, I wish I could marry your brain!” was a declaration spoken from the mouth of a genius of a math teacher, Mr. Alexander, that came charging back into my memory in the third quarter of my AP Geometry class as I sat dumbfounded by the lack of knowledge I was apprehending from my then teacher, Mrs. Shackelford. By this time math had become my worst enemy and I hated it with a passion. Sorry about the negative diction I am professing towards math, but the truth is that I lost my love for it year’s ago―with the help of horrible instructors.
