On page 44, we see Krogstads manipulative behaviour through the way he talks to Nora. Krogstad says “No, it is Christmas eve. Whether or not you have a merry Christmas depends on you.” This quote shows how threatening Krogstad can be because he threatens to spoil the merriest day of the year for Nora. What’s even worse is that it is the first Christmas that Nora can actually enjoy without worrying about financial problems. If I was Krogstad I would say the whole two sentences in a cold tone and say “you” even colder to show that I am very serious about the matter.
