After waging a six year battle with General Augusto Sandino the Marines evacuated the country. After that battle US ambassador Matthew Hanna made Anastasio director of the National Guard. Somoza ordered the assassination of Sacasa after that, followed by the murder of former Sandino supporters. In June 1936, Sacasa was forced to resign. After that a few substitutions took over for Anastasio.
So a chosen few were helped make this conceivable, the Founding Fathers. The principal Founding Father and furthermore known as our first President would be George Washington. Other than him being most fit for the main leader of the United States, there are such a significant number of more explanations behind his commitment to the Constitution. He had understanding from the Revolutionary War, and from that it persuaded Washington that over the top worries for states' rights and states purview would be deadly to a successful national government. He was at that point understanding that states' rights were essential which winds up noticeably crucial when choosing our new government for the United States.
Based on reading Julius Caesar I learned that neither Marc Antony nor Julius Caesar would make a good president of the United States. I believe Brutus will. Although Marc Antony and Julius Caesar had great leadership qualities I believe they did not have good morals or enough strength and courage to handle the power. In Julius Caesar, Brutus was known as being noble and always thinking of the good of Rome. If Brutus became president of the United States he would make sure everyone is treated fairly and with honestly.
Thoreau believes in a government that puts the needs of the people ahead of the needs of the unjust few. His belief can be misinterpreted as a cry to abolish the government but he makes it clear by stating, “But to speak practically and as a citizen, unlike those who call themselves no-government men, I ask for, not at once no government, but at once a better government” (Thoreau 830). This sentence is the most important statement made by Thoreau because it is the starting point of what he wants in an American Government. He does not ask for a perfect government but a fair and free government. He goes on to say that some injustice was far too great to overlook, such as slavery.
This leads to a moral law, or a natural law, which includes the duty to maintain the rights of others. According to Locke, we are moral people, so there is no “war against all”. In Locke’s eyes, we should uphold Lex Rex (the law is king). We need the law to uphold order and assure we keep our inalienable rights, and no one should be above said law, not even a king. He believes in the commonwealth, and the people have the obligation to seek it.
America is portrayed as a land with a bright future that needs the people suffering from the injustices to fight for what they deserve. It is up to those who are underprivileged to stand up and fight for their rights. Those who are living the American dream are not going to willingly give up their own freedom and rights to give it to other groups, who they see as undeserving. Contrary to their belief, all Americans are worthy of the American dream under the United States Constitution. It states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
Paine used Common Sense as a great tool to let the commoners and less educated to gain some insight on the role and purpose of government. Firstly, Paine makes a distinction between government and society. Paine states: “Society is everything constructive and good that people join together to accomplish. Government, on the other hand, is an institution whose sole purpose is to protect us from our own vices. Government has its origins in the evil of man and is therefore a necessary evil at best.” He goes on to say that “government's sole purpose is to protect life, liberty and property, and that a government should be judged solely on the basis of the extent to which it accomplishes this goal.” Basically, Paine is stating to the common people that they have the opportunity to form their own representation of government and do it in a way that truly represents their wants and needs.
Out of the ideologies that I compared and contrasted I would have to say that I agree more with Liberalism because of the belief that the most important goals should be individual liberty and equality. I think it is extremely important to set limits and obey boundaries but I also believe that we can and we should achieve that without violating people’s individual rights. Liberalism goes against anarchism in a sense that anarchism believes that there should be no government at all. In the United States, "liberalism" is most often used in the sense of social liberalism, which supports some regulation of business and other economic interventionism which they believe to be in the public interest. Liberalism suggests that government should intervene to “help” but never to “curb freedom.” Liberalism also says that ordinary men and women are entitled to satisfactory lives, but that individual liberties, including the right to prosper from ones efforts, should not be curtailed.
In Plato’s Republic he describes the common good as a quality that individuals possess that should be upheld and respected. Virtue and what is understood as good political order (justice), is the framework that the ideal state would fit into so that, it is in everyone’s best interest. Justice, if understood correctly is not the advantage of the city’s higher members but is concerned with the common good of the whole political community, and is to the advantage everyone. It provides the city with a sense of unity and brings forth harmony in the city. Injustice such as the treatment of Antigone and her brother’s rights, bring about civil war and hatred so the obstruction of order even in the smallest sense can cause the direst of consequences.
In today's society, most people are incapable of explaining the differences between the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. In fact, the two parties' ideologies seem to be very much alike; and therefore, people tend to believe that a Republican candidate and a Democratic candidate running for the same office will not make a large difference from one another. Furthermore, both Democrats, the supposedly liberal party, and Republicans, the supposedly conservative party, have been appointed to the highest office, the President of the United States of America. In most cases, the President has been effective in building notable progress in our nation's growth, regardless of the political party that they belong to. Hence, most people believe that the two parties are similar enough that they are practically the same.
