THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE
Energy makes the day go round as the saying goes. It moves cars along the road and boats over the water. It makes a cake in the oven and keeps ice frozen in the freezer. It plays our favorite songs on the radio and lights our home. Energy is needed for our bodies to grow and it allows our minds to think.
Modern civilization becomes possible because of energy transformations. Energy takes forms in several categories; Potential and Kinetic energy. Battery, specifically has a stored potential energy which when we use transforms into chemical energy. When you need a portable convenient power source, you can rely on batteries. Batteries in the modern day world have become ubiquitous, in the sense that they provide energy for a wide range of products that are used across all segments spanning from households to large industrial enterprises. Batteries contain heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, and nickel that can contaminate the environment when they are improperly disposed. When incinerated, certain metals might be released into the air or can concentrate in the ash produced by the combustion process. In short, when batteries are improperly disposed it can cause pollution and affects our health. Batteries are also harmful for children, when they may bite it, causing the poisonous chemicals to leak into their mouth. That’s why, we have to conserve the use of batteries in any possible way like using rechargeable batteries.
Nowadays, batteries are expensive, because of its consumptions and chemicals in it to serve as a power source. Aside from being expensive, a dry cell has a little amount of voltage stored in it and easily loses its power in which makes it more inconvenient to use. So the researchers wanted to find out how they could possibly make a solution of this problem in our society. With these ideas, we came up in a research project which can help us conserve the use of many batteries to start a thing...
