Mollluscum contagiosum is a viral disease caused by mollusci pox virus, which is virus. The virus is contagious through direct contact and is more common in children. Molluscum contagiosum is most common in children ages 1 to 10. However, the virus also can be spread by a DNA sexual contact and can occur in people with compromised immune systems. It is spread through direct contact or shared items such as clothing or towels. Molluscum contagiosum is not a life threatening disease, but causes things to happen to ones body. Molluscum contagiosum can affect any area of the skin but is most common on the butt, arms, and legs of children's body's. They are also found on the genitals and inner thighs of adults. The virus commonly spreads through skin-to-skin contact. This includes sexual contact or touching or scratching the bumps and then touching the skin. Handling objects that have the virus on them, such as a towel, can also result in infection. The virus can spread from one part of the body to another or to other people. The virus can be spread among children at day care or at school. Molluscum contagiosum is contagious until the bumps are gone. The bumps are generally painless, but can itch. they are also small aboutn2 to 5 millimeter in diameter, and they have a dimple in the center. The bumps are initially firm, dome-shaped, and flesh-colored, and with time they become softer. The core of bump has a white waxy material inside it. Molluscum contagiosum usually disappears spontaneously over a period of months to years in people who have normal immune systems.
