In fact, it is more so a problem than in other countries. Francine Prose tries to decipher the various reasons why obesity has grown to the forefront of problems associated with today. The author explains that society gives too much to people in terms of different variety of food. There is food around us all the time and it is very tempting not to eat it, “schools and employers might forbid the sale of junk food on campus and in offices” (Prose 212), which is hard to image that this can be done. The author suggests that society should stop giving people junk food and it can help stop obesity.

False advertising is also another unpleasant practice that fast food companies use to lure in costumers. Some of these practices include no warning labels on advertisements like there are on dangerous things like tobacco and confusing labels on food served that lead customers into eating more calories than intended. Life in the modern world is full of stress and struggles that are ready to let you down anytime. People are in a hurry, eat fast, work harder and forget how to take care of their health because they are too busy to think of how to eat in a right way. They keep ruining their health by fulfilling their stomach as much as they can. So, many nutritionists advise that people should change this bad eating habit and do simple things, such as eat less and slowly. In the book “Food Rules”, Michael Pollan also lists “Eat Slowly” and “Eat Less” as recommendation for eaters.
This means that they need different types of nutrition’s. For example since their metabolism tend to burn the food faster they need some type of heavy food but not too heavy so soon their metabolism won’t be able to break it down; which will cause them to gain weight. Pollan does point out in his book how fast food is not very healthy and how it is a poor quality of food. I am here to correct what he said towards fast food. Fast food can be good for you if you eat the fast food correctly.
Spurlock attacks McDonalds in this documentary about their food and how unhealthy it is but it is not only McDonalds that is a problem. All fast food restaurants are unhealthy and advertise the unhealthy and readily available cheeseburger and large fry. The point is that obesity is a very big problem in America and fast food restaurants are not going to change the way they make their food or advertise. Americans want to have to change for the problem of obesity to go away. I take great pride in going against the cultural eating patterns that have negatively impacted billons of people on this earth. The fate of individual people and the fate of humanity have been intertwined more than ever because of the negative eating practices that a great majority of humans participate in. The expression “you are what you eat” could not be any closer to the truth. Length and quality of life are directly proportional to the eating patterns that humans practice. I cannot fathom disrespecting my body by torturing it with excess meat, junk food and dairy products.
The addictive and yet fattening qualities associated with fast food leave people constantly craving one more bite. However, Schlosser makes a decent point in the epilogue section of his book when he states that under no circumstances is anyone actually forced to purchase and consume fast food products and those who desire change should simply "stop buying it" (Pg. 269). No matter how many excuses the fast food industry or average consumer comes up with, consuming fast food is just not worth the endless list of consequences

Sitting around and not doing any physical activity really increases the chance for someone to develop type II diabetes. Many scientists and researchers believe that beta cell dysfunction is another key cause for diabetes. Beta cell dysfunction is when the beta cells in your body stop working like they should to help produce a sufficient amount of insulin. As well as abnormal glucose production, this is when the liver stores too much sugar and distributes it to the body when it is not needed.
