THE ROLE OF THE WOMAN IN THE MODERN FAMILY The role of the woman is unequal and less powerful than the man in the traditional family and this view has been created and existed for centuries. However, after the woman’s right revolutions such as voting, educational opportunities and payment gap for equal work… and the developing industry, people have changed their mind in a woman’s position today. Thus, the attitude and the role of a woman have been more opening and wider thinking and equal power with a man in the modern family. The woman has a better position in the modern family. The traditional family usually includes at least three generations or more who live together in a big house or a same building and do a same work. An oldest man or an oldest son will hold all power and the rest members of the traditional family have to obey his arrangement or decision. Besides that, the role, attitude and position of a man are so different with a woman. The man in a traditional family usually controls his wife and his children, yet this man maybe have power or not with a big family. The man can go to school or get an academic education and either earn money or spend money for himself without asking his wife. In contrary, the woman has to do housework, take care of parents-in-law and her children and obey absolutely even when she gets married, she can’t choose her husband. The women don’t often have opportunities to get a high level education or some of them don’t go to school like my oldest uncle, she can’t read and write. However, the woman in the modern family has a better position. The woman has more freedom in choosing a job or a man whom she will get married and more chances to get higher level education or have a job like a man or spend money for herself in dressing and relaxing.
