The phrase 'modern day' goes hand-in-hand with technology. In developed countries and an increasing number of developing countries, most are in the technological age. It seems as if everyone, at the very least, has a mobile phone whether young or elderly. At this point, the issue that is being often discussed around the world is that people feel no closer to being happy in their lives even though communication through technology is increasingly easier. There are two ways to look at this issue. The first way to look upon this issue is on the positive factor of technology making communication easier thus leading to happier lives. With the common usage of social media, e-mails, internet, phone calls or text messages just to name a few, communication that decades ago would have not been possible is finally possible. People who live on different continents whether family or strangers, could relate messages to one another and share ideas in seconds. This leads to a happier life because ideas could be shared, long lost families could be able to video-call and see each other's faces, common interests discussed and many other interesting ways that unite the modern world. Another positive effect of increased technological communication ways is that news could be shared around the globe in an instant, creating unity in countries of the world. Due to better communication, people from one side of the world could help others on foreign lands, which does increase happiness of people around the world. Happiness of modern day humans rely on technological advancements, proving the fact that technology does make a better life for people. The other way to see the issue is by the negative, that communication through technology, instead of making lives of people happier, it causes the happiness factor to move the other way.
