I don’t necessarily know what the laws should state, but its something that needs looked into badly. Prescription drugs are becoming more of a street drug than thought about. This paper contains information and facts on why I know prescription drugs are being abused and why I think stricter procedures should be taken with usage of prescription drugs. There is also an argument about prescription drugs being too hard to get, which you will read about later in the paper. Prescription drugs that are most commonly abused, classified as Opioids, are OxyContin, Vicodin, and Demerol, which are used to treat pain or relieve coughs or diarrhea.

The law defines a series of offences, including unlawful supply, intent to supply, import or export (all these are collectively known as 'trafficking' offences), and unlawful production. The main difference from the Medicines Act is that the Misuse of Drugs Act also prohibits unlawful possession. To enforce this law the police have the special powers to stop, detain and search people on 'reasonable suspicion' that they are in possession of a controlled drug. The laws controlling drug use are complicated. The Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA) regulates what are termed controlled drugs.

Transnational War on Drugs Kenyetta McClelland English 122 English Composition Aimee Garten 11/5/2012 Transnational War on Drugs Since 1914 there has been a dilemma with alcohol and drugs being manufactured, sold, and transported under laws that prohibited these. Drugs are chemicals designed to affect the human body. Some use drugs for sickness, recreational and spiritual reasons, and addictions. Drugs such as Hallucinogens change the way you see hear or feel, stimulants speed up the nervous system while depressants slow it down , and anti- psychotic drugs balance moods and stop hallucinogens. These drugs are affecting people lives in a major ways because they are being abused and misused people become addicted and dependent on drugs.
Anti-psychotic medications are indicated for schizophrenia, mania, autism and to treat the symptoms of psychosis. Symptoms of psychosis may include hallucinations, delusions, bizarre behavior, disorganized thinking, and agitation. Some of the typical antipsychotic medications such as chlorpromazine, are used as anti-emetics or for postoperative intractable hiccups. Antipsychotic medications administered orally have a variable rate of absorption complicated by the presence of food, antacids, and smoking. Administering antipsychotic medication with anticholinergic drugs will slow gastric motility.
Drug addiction is a major part of today’s society. Not only does it affect the human body in many different ways it also affects the mouth in various ways. There are many different harmful drugs around the world. Some examples include methamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis, heroin, and ecstasy. Throughout my paper I will go into detail about each harmful drug and the effect on the human body.
A very commonly manipulated element is the medication itself. Due to of the amount of abuse and danger derived of that abuse, the government decided to limit and regulate the distribution and/ or prescription of narcotic and other misused drugs. While this sounds good in theory, it can and has become a controversial issue. Caught up in the midst of all this are physicians. While certain drugs are great for pain management, such as oxycontin and other narcotics, they are also great for a “high” and are commonly abused (“Prescription Medications”).
