The proposed “strength” in line one becomes the “saving refuge” in the following line. The Lord is their strength, thus he is the strength of all Israel because he is the “saving refuge” of His anointed. The psalmist sees that our Lord and Savior will always be in our lives and will defend His people and anointed. The final verse also uses synonymous parallelism. The first example is “save your people” and “be their shepherd” both show the want for His salvation.
Our focus as believers, for ourselves, is to love and worship God, to uplift Him in everything we do, to glorify Him in our lives, to love those around us, to be a light in a dark world, and to share God’s love with everyone around us. It ultimately comes back to us serving God and pleasing Him (Crabb, 1977, p. 21). As Psalm 144:15 states, “Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord”. Rather than seeking happiness, one should focus their efforts on seeking God. From there, true happiness will emerge.
1) Explain what is meant in the bible by the phrase ‘God is good’. (25marks) Firstly, we must understand what is meant by ‘good’ well good is that which is morally right. With God it is said in the bible “oh give thanks to the lord, for he is good; for His loving-kindness is everlasting (Psalms), another way is the 10 commandments which shows God setting the standard of what is morally right and wrong. Another way of showing of how ‘God is good’ is by creation in genesis 1 and 2 which shows God either creating the world or how he is crafting everything, also in the bible of how God has preformed miracles and in todays society. In the bible there are many passages, which say ‘God is good’ for example in James ‘every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow’ this is clearly saying that God is the source of goodness.
According to Dr. Hawkins spiritual gifts have a motivational purpose because they enable the believer to participate in ministry that impacts lives which provides an experience of joy in the use of these gifts. True 21. The doctrine of the Trinity teaches about Gods concern for unity and intimacy among his followers. True 22. Understanding the doctrine of Eschatology can help to provide believers with a source of joy when they are enduring struggles, because this doctrine emphasizes that believers have a future secured by God.
I will remain a faithful viewer. Powerful Witness Yours in Christ, Dear Zola: J.S. I recently caught the show with Dr. Caner. Praise the God of all creation for men speaking the truth! Please take heart that some of us Anglo-Saxon boys ferociously support Israel and value the heritage of the children of Israel.
Because David asked for mercy, God extended mercy to him and his wife Bathsheba, according to 2nd Samuel 12:24-25. In addition, God loved on Solomon, who was the son of David and Bathsheba. So therefore, it reflected that God bestowed mercy on David in spite of the sins that he committed. The key words in the scriptures that are connected with mercy are lovingkindness, love, and forgiveness. So therefore, David was thankful that God was merciful to him.
The present dimension of faith is the life of obedience in which the believer demonstrates his or her faithfulness to God out of gratitude and love for the one whom he or she unconditionally trusts[2]. Theologically, it expresses the fundamental nature or response of the human person to God[3]. It is the assured knowledge that changes the believer and the means through which one
In chapters nine and ten, Hawthorne explains that “Mr. Dimmesdale has evidently began to fail” (109) by maintaining to be the perfect example of holiness. For years now “his form grew emaciated” (109) trying to protect his reputation, by keeping his secret from the townspeople. As much as he tries to hide his sorrows, the people discern his actions and emotions through the way he interacts in the community. Dimmesdale is now “considered by his more fervent admirers as a little less than a heaven-oriented apostle” (109).
At Calvin, I hope to contribute by encouraging others to grow and learn in Christ by maintaining a fellowship that will praise Him in whatever we may do, whether it is preparing for the next exam, simply participating in an intramural game or even how we nourish our bodies. Philippians 2:1-2 reminds us of the importance of being united for Christ: “If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” My decision of wanting to attend a Christian school such as Calvin College came from the realization that many of the people I respect went to schools that are grounded in faith.
Everything that we do is all through the communication between God and humanity, and humanity as a whole. When we communicate with others, we are sharing our emotions, our stories, and who we are, so we can all be understood. To meet that one special person, who knows everything about you, who takes your heart into their hands, and vice versa, you learn to love that other human being that God has blessed you with to have in your life. You learn about each other, you both know what makes you happy and sad, and you both feel accepted by each other despite all of the flaws you may seem to have. Trust is a gift from God, which he gave to humans, so that we can learn to trust people, and our significant other, especially during hard times.
