Appendix A – Questions to the couple MGG2601 Assignment 1 Nicholas Fourie 50254820 1. INTRODUCTION TO THE FAMILY: On May the 25th 2013 I interviewed a couple by the names of Brian and Debbie Percival. Brain and Debbie are both currently between the ages of 45-55, they have two children: A son Derek(26) the eldest and a daughter Megan(22). Brian is a technical specialist in the paper industry and Debbie is a self-employed importer of copier toners and spares. Derek the son is employed with commercial property brokers and is doing his part-time honours at the University of Johannesburg. Megan is currently employed at an antiques shop. Despite having jobs both children are still living at home. The family has one set of grandparents living in South Africa and the others are overseas. The local grandparents- Bob Gous and Sandra Gous- are both unemployed and living on Brian and Debbie’s property. The similarities in culture, religion and childhoods along with the ability to deal with issues quickly and the openness of their communication seems to be the key to their successful marriage so far.
