Introduction This essay will discuss the meso level of ecological model. I will explain the model through a case study. There are four main part of this essay. In the first part, a general idea of ecological modal and meso level will be present. Secondly, the essay will focus on working knowledge of the model. Institutional structures, state sector, private sector, voluntary sector and kaupapa Maori organizations will be discussed. In the third part, in relation to the application, the essay will analyze the chosen case and the explanations and possible responses to the case will be present. Finally, the interaction of meso level with macro and micro level will be described. Body Text Firstly, this section will provide a brief description of ecological model and an explanation of the institutional level will be presented. Ecological model is a comprehensive approach which focused on individual in ones environment and has the ability to accept and to interact the environment. As a description of Bronfenbernner (1979), the ecology can be seen as “a set of nested structures, the developing person live in the middle” (p.3) (like the Appendix 6 in our Study Guide). There are three levels in the system. Micro level, the deepest level refers to the individuals; Meso level, the links between one and more units, involves communities, local government, and social service system and so on. Macro level, the largest area of this map, refers to politics, economics, culture and so on. Walker (2011) states “Bronfenbrenner’s modle of human development acknowledges that humans don’t develop in isolation, but in relation to their family and home, school, community and society, and each of these ever-changing and multilevel environments.”(p. 36).
