Cell phones that have limited coverage areas aren't dependable. As long as your using your phone in a large city that has plenty of cell phone towers it should work correctly. However, this isn't always the case, there are plenty of ways the radio signals can be disturbed or blocked, especially if you are too far away from a tower. So, one of the cons of using a cell phone instead of a landline is, they are less dependable. A huge perk of having a landline phones is that it works everywhere, but cell phones don’t always work whether it be because of coverage issues or other problems.
For example, cell phones and laptops can be used to retrieve and send information to anywhere at any time of the day. In addition, the use of broadband assists the criminal justice system with mobile data such as mug shots, fingerprints, and reports. Agencies even have hot spots so officers can upload important documents such as reports, and retrieve, or report incidents (Dispatch magazine on-line, n.d). A few of the benefits for mobile data terminal are the radios are secure, for example, the radios cannot be
INTRODUCTION In today’s world people have become entirely dependent on their cell phones. They make living easier in many ways because of the helpful features and functions that assist with communication within a complex society. One of the features that have changed the way people communicate is the ability to send SMS (Short Message Service) messages better known as text messages. This trend of texting came around in late 90’s and has immensely advanced and compounded. SMS allows people to type messages and exchange them between mobile phones better known as texting.
Geolocation data can also reveal significant information about the people you spend time with and a view of their social network (Gross, B., 2011). The mobile phone has produced an enormous increase in uniquely identifiable data that can be used for tracking you and everyone in your social network. A constant stream of geolocation data is generated by one person that is collected by mobile carriers. The information is generated from cellular triangulation, geo-located IP addresses, and integrated GPS units, which deliver down to 10 meter accuracy (Gross, B., 2011). I don’t like how our information can be used for commercial use, and it seems to me that it sounds a little dangerous and an invasion of privacy.
The internet is much quicker than any other form of communication and is also very cheap. For example e-mails are completely free to use and are delivered to the recipient (however far away) in a matter of seconds. Also the developments in software like Skype have allowed people to have face to face conversations when they are miles away from each other. This could be very important for TNC’s trying to tell their bosses in HQ about the factory and its productivity. They could just show them around using Skype.
Who new I could be so addicted to a cell phone. Now that I think about it a cell phone is a luxury not a necessity. Necessities are food, clothes, water etc. you can not live without them, you need them to survive. Cell phones, makeup, polish are a luxury, you want them you do not need them.
Texting is Ruining Social Skills It has been argued that many people currently prefer texting rather than a phone call. While some people consider its low cost, others argue that texting is convenient because it can be done anywhere including when travelling or in a meeting without any interference from anyone. Today, people also choose to socialize through text on their smart phones and social websites. It is fact that even recent generations such as younger people are more involved in texting. Let us not forget that even older people are engaging in texting as well.
In these studies, the conversation itself was as distracting as dialing or retrieving messages. People who talk on a cell phone while driving develop an extremely narrow focus, and become unaware of many of the things happening around them on the road. Naturally, the lobbyists for the cellular communications industry are fighting at every legislative level to eliminate or void any bans. Verizon, which has some 28 million cell phone users, is determined that its $14.95 headset would circumvent any bans. However, the second argument is a valid one: for the most part, cell phones are a convenience, and not really necessary, even as some people argue the point.
Finally, Ingram claims that because of the speed of communication requirement in today’s world, young people have dificulty to keep concentrate. Discussion Ingram provides some convincing reasons why mobile phones impact negativelly on people’s life. His statements about answering the phone after work time to solve work issues are largely acceptable. However, he exaggerates in his statements about problems related to talking on mobile phone in public places. Ingram’s arguments about extending works beyond work time are valid.
