Throughout the performance, characters were abruptly entering and exiting the stage through the doors of the apartment. Wintersteen designed the apartment so that each door was visible to the audience, but inside each room was hidden. Consequentially, the actions of the characters inside the rooms were left to the viewer’s imagination, which added suspense during the chaotic scenes. Overall, the stage was designed in a way that gave additional context to the story and promoted the theme of chaos by the efficient placements of exits

Throughout most of the play Mary is accepted by the girls and the court as she just follows along with them without and disturbance. However she chooses to defy Abigail, to do what’s right and an automatic disassociation began between her and the girls. Miller uses stage directions to express the exclusion to the audience “[She glances at Abigail who is staring down at her remorselessly]”. However under the pressure Mary breaks and she once again makes a decision to follow along with the girls’ hysteria to once again belong. Once again Miller uses stage directions to show her reunite with the girls “[they all watch, as Abigail, out of her infinite charity, reaches out and draws the sobbing Mary to her].

The richly decorated gowns worn by wealthy Georgian women were often adorned with an "eschelle stomacher" (a fancy corset designed to be worn in public and adorned with bows of decreasing size) above the waistline and an embroidered and trimmed petticoat below. Ladies' skirts were supported by hoops made of cane or rattan. Under the hoops and corset, ladies wore "shifts" (knee-length undergarments with elbow-length sleeves adorned with a froth of lace). 11. The girls seem like they come from high class families because of the large room they are in, the clothing they wear, and the large chandelier . All the girls are wearing Victorian clothing; the wired cage or hoop skirt helps make the dresses look puffy. All of the girls are wearing a different colored dress such as blue, pink, purple, green, and yellow. The carpet the girls are standing on is a dark green and red. ANALYZE: Heffernan emphasizes the chandelier as the main focus point.
Woman indulged themselves in fur and silk, if they were wealthy enough. These types of clothing were reserved for the evening, to be worn with elbow length gloves, and daywear included such things as dresses with bow tie collared shirts with a matching jacket (Thomas). Directing Assignment COMM 2312.03 MWF 11:45-12:35 Richard Edmonson By: Brianna Adriana It is obviously really hot since Ana ends up in her underwear and so do the other ladies. In time they end up all undressing and are careless of their flaws. They seem to be working on dresses and get this great idea to start making some for women like them with bigger sizes. It was a start of great idea for them to change their lives and progress to better things. It is a realistic story and scene.
Yubelkis Valerio THA 50 D07D Professor Miller May 23, 2012 Project #2: Review a Play My professional play review is based on the Broadway musical WICKED. Of the many live performances I have been able to see; by far this is my favorite. I saw this musical on May 23, 2012 at the Gershwin Theatre in Manhattan. The scene inside the theatre is created to draw your eyes to focus on the stage, there is a dragon hanging from the ceiling, what seems to be dry branches are placed on both sides of the stage coming out from the floor all the way to the ceiling, the stage is filled with different size and shapes of mechanical wheels like those from a giant clock, the front part of the
When I was in the Committee room it was like a big hall, then the committee was waiting for me on the stage, when walking up I was nervous. There was two well dressed women on either side of the chairperson, and the chairperson looked the richest and also the snobbiest of them all, I had to be careful of what I said because the chairperson always has the final say over all the rest. They asked for my name, I said “Birling,” then the chairperson spoke and said to repeat what I said, I then made up another name fast and told them my real name, then started to tell them my story. The others agreed to give me money, but then the chairperson said, “No!” I felt like just crying out in tears, but then the chairperson might have complained about that too. If she was in the position I was in she wouldn’t have liked it one bit.
