Medical careers

The health industry is continuing to grow, unlike other industries. Baby boomers are becoming more and more in need of health care, which has made administrative jobs and medical jobs in the health care industry freely available. If you are considering a job in health care, there are a number of options. You don’t have to necessarily become a doctor or a nurse. Some of these jobs will require special certifications, while other will require college. Most jobs in the health care filed will require a high school diploma.

One of the fastest growing jobs in health care is a medical assistant. A physician assistant’s job is similar to that of a doctor. The only difference is the physician assistant is supervised by the doctor. To become a physician assistant, you must attend at least two to three years of school. Another job in great demand is a medical secretary. A medical secretary performs administrative duties in hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics and nursing homes. A medical secretary may require a qualification higher than a high school diploma, but this is not a necessity. Employers, however, favor those who have some medical secretarial training or strong administrative skills.

A medical assistant will perform similar work as a secretary does. But, a medical assistant has been trained to carry out simple medical procedures. The medical assistant’s job criteria include taking a patient’s blood pressure, temperature and checking their medical history. The medical assistant will also collect lab specimens and draw blood. To become a medical assistant, you must train from ten to eighteen months.
