Medical Administrative Assistant Career Lisa Price Bryant & Stratton College SOSC102 Jillian Wall November 29, 2013 Choosing to become a Medical Administrative Assistant is a great way to enter the growing healthcare industry and from the sectors tremendous growth. According to the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical administrative field will be one of the fastest growing segments in the healthcare profession. Employment is expected to grow by 31 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations. (BLS, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2012.) A good Medical Administrative Assistant is valued for having communication skills, organized approach, pleasant personality, team ethic, and professionalism. The most valuable asset as a Medical Administrative Assistant can have is the ability to think on their feet. Since making the decision to enroll in college and making the choice to select Bryant & Stratton College, I have been able to successfully understand pre-algebra and pass the course. I have improved my writing skills to where I have a better understanding of how to write effective papers. I am currently studying sociology and discovering how much of an impact my self image has in society. The learning skills I have acquired so far in my studies play a major role in my career. The strengths I posses that I can bring into my career is that I am optimistic and have a pleasant demeanor, I am capable of multi-tasking and detail oriented. Having experience in the use of technology is a great asset with the changing ways that offices correspond and communicate in today’s world. Understanding the way to function in society is crucial to adapting in social structure. Status is important social construct because the positions we occupy lead to the roles we play.
