Would you risk leaving the familiar, all that you know, and all that you have ever perceived and loved, to satisfy your need of truth? One’s quest to seek and understand would certainly vary from individual to individual, since no one holds the same views on life or may even be remotely curious to what may or may not be beyond them.
Question why! In Plato’s allegory it is stated how “ridiculous” for one to take a decisive stand on an action or issue, without first “enlightening” or fully educating himself on the matter. (Plato 517) Take advantage of the Information available, enlighten yourself, make a decision based on the knowledge acquired. Become your own liberator. Had the prisoners in Plato’s allegory asked themselves ‘why am I imprisoned’, or by another questioned, “Why have you accepted such a fate?” might they have responded “why indeed,” curiosity aroused, would not a search for truth commence?
It is impossible, though, that the series of causes should extend back to infinity because every cause is dependent on a prior cause and the ultimate cause is thus dependent on a previous cause. So if there is no first cause, there will be no intermediate causes and no final cause. But the absence of such causes clearly does not square with our observation, and so there must therefore be a first efficient cause, which everyone
BELONGING ESSAY Belonging is shaped by the attitudes and perceptions of the individual, as well as the norms and expectations of society. Although the road to understanding one’s identity, worth and connection can be a struggle, ultimately we all need to confront the nature of our belonging, as a result of our inherent and innate desire to feel connected with the world and its people. The challenges in coming to terms with one’s identity and belonging, and the necessity of this process, are explored in “Felix Skrzynecki”, “Post Card”, “A Place To Call Home” and “The Myth Of Belonging Masks Our Insecurity”. A comparison between a strong sense of belonging and confusion over one’s identity is made in Skrzynecki’s poem “Feliks Skrzynecki”. The metaphor “kept pace with the Joneses of his own mind’s making” shows how Feliks’ sense of identity is closely linked to his

He believes there truly is no comparison. In fact, he believes that there is nothing we can compare this world to because, as far as we know, there is not another world even similar to us. We have no standard in which we can judge our world because our world is all we know. According to Hume, we cannot assume a Christian God as the creator. He was not sure we could even assume a creator, let alone choose one religions God to be the true one.
The idea that addiction is a behavioral choice and not the result of a brain repeatedly being subjected to addictive substances is inconsistent with what scientists are learning about how the addicted brain functions. If, as Schaler states, anyone can stop or moderate their use anytime they want to, why don’t they? Why are there people who want to quit using and can’t? And if using addictive drugs is just a choice, how would one explain the concept of relapse or addicts in recovery who have to learn how to successfully resist the incessant urge to use again? His claim that anyone can stop or moderate their use anytime they want to is illogical.
Are free will and determinism compatible? Free will is definitely a debated subject that philosophers have debated for a very long time. Free will is the apparent human ability to make choices that are not externally determined (www.plato.stanford.edu). Hard determinists believe that if our actions are determined, then it is not possible for us to have free will. Libertarians argue that our actions are not determined verifying that we have free will.
