Case Study February 22, 2012 The Forgotten Team Member Case Study: How did the team get into this situation? The team got into this situation, first of all, by judging the other group members before getting to know them. Christine, the leader of the group, immediately classified each team member by her initial judgments of them. Janet was struggling with time management between her part time jobs and school and Christine didn’t respect this. Since Janet couldn’t make it to meetings they gave her what was “left over” and didn’t even keep her in mind.
It’s not the sort of helpfully pointing out mistakes in hope of the student improving, but rather the teacher picking on her small minions. Instead of the pointing out mistakes having a positive outcome it has a negative outcome, which poisons the speed in which the students learn. Sedaris tries to become more proficient in speaking French, but the teacher instead embarrasses Sedaris. Learning any language is hard, especially French. Learning French is extremely difficult and it requires a lot of hard work to even speak it somewhat, yet speaking it fluently is a whole other task.
Also the students were convinced that they had nothing to learn from a white woman who had never experience firsthand violence, discrimination, and hatred that was part of their everyday lives. Other problem is that the students separate themselves into racial groups in the classroom. Fights break out and eventually some of the students stop going to Ms. Gruwell classroom. There was one part that show clearly the situation that was when one of her students drew a stereotypical racist cartoon of one of her students which was passed around the class, she saw that the students do truly hate each other. Their students on the surface, the only thing they share is their hatred for each other and the understanding that they are simply being warehoused in the educational system until they are old enough to disappear.
Torture Teaching Tactic The essay “Me Talk Pretty One Day” by David Sedaris deals with the author’s experience with a French language teacher while studying French in Paris. His teacher seems to be a very impatient, sadistic sort of person who belittles her students by taking advantage of their inability to fully comprehend her insults. An example of this is how she utterly insults a polish woman’s introduction of herself. Though the Polish woman didn’t fully comprehend the rebuke, it was likely her tone and demeanor caused the student to withdraw in shame. She seemed to intentionally shame and humiliate her students in order to force them to comprehend and speak French fluently.

Even when it is decided that he did not really mean what he said he runs into a lot of students at school who now hate him, especially after his family decides to sue the school. His "friends" were the ones who goaded him on and now they abandon him. Ugly Girl is sort of a punk-type girl, studs in her ears, tall, big (but not fat), and very, very independent. She calls herself Ugly Girl, though, it is not the other students that are doing that. She will stand up to anyone and anything, warrior-women Ugly Girl, as she puts it.

At the first encounter with his co-students he felt a bit intimated, because of the impressive level of french they demonstrated towards each other. He soon discovers it's not the case. He and the entire french class are repeatedly belittled and mocked for their level of french by their instructor.
There went poor girls and the conditions were really bad. There was no heating, they gave the girls few food and very bad one. The teachers didn’t know how to teach. There was one, Ms. Scatcherd, who only saw the bad things and was always pointing out the mistakes some girls did, she didn’t reward them for their good work, instead, she punished them by hitting them with twigs. The other teacher, Ms. Temple, was
Then, class starts and after the teacher teaches a few lessons, she makes everyone get into groups. Turns out, you are the only one that nobody turned to, to be in a group with you; you are the odd one out which is how you feel. Then, the teacher makes you be in a group with students and they seem like they don't even want to deal with you and they start to feel disgusted. You put your head down, feeling disgusted and horrible, knowing that your own classmates don't want you around. Finally, there comes PE, the worst part of the day for you.
She hated men. She hated officers and she would show favoritism at every opportune time. She constantly reminded everyone how good she was and would talk at you and not with you. The worst part
