“Me Talk Pretty One Day” In the article “Me Talk Pretty One Day,” by David Sedaris, the major thesis states that through hard work and dedication, success can be had even in the most negative situation. Sedaris develops his thesis through subtle humor and an entertaining anecdote of his French college course and his “sauce-box” professor who finds joy in the belittlement of her students. The author’s purpose is to motivate college students who may be experiencing a difficult course with a less than pleasant instructor so that he may inspire students to achieve all their goals.
