The Great Nuclear Fizzle at Old B&W 1)Develop a chronological list of major events of the case: * B&W, known to be a pioneer of the steam generating business, had engaged in building nuclear power plants. * B&W built a $25 million plant at Mount Vernon to fabricate the nuclear pressure vessels. * Failures to deliver the nuclear pressure vessels to the costumers due to many reasons such as management failures, labor shortages and technological difficulties. The nuclear plant produced just three pressure vessels in its first three years of operation. * These failures continued to increase mainly after Chairman Morris Nielson took charges of B&W and became the president and chief executive officer of the company. * After the unexpected challenges faced by the company, a vice president responsible for the Mount Vernon plant committed suicide. * B&W failed to deliver 21 of the pressure vessels to the two nuclear industries: General Electric and Westinghouse Electric. * As a result of this delay, the two companies took unprecedented step of forcing B&W to turn most of its uncompleted vessels to over to other competitors. * Later, when B&W tried to hang onto two of the transferred vessels, Westinghouse Electric took the case to the case to court and won. * At the end, 14 General Electric and Westinghouse vessels were taken out of B&W.
