I was so happy that I didn’t have to worry about the stress of this topic anymore. My parents were so proud that about how determined I was. Now I realize that it wasn’t until I completed the Geometry class in my junior year that I passed the regents in June of 2011. I believe this is because Geometry was the necessary class to take before Algebra II Trigonometry but the curriculum in my school district wasn’t set up that way, causing many students to fail. Many students who failed were “A Students” and never failed a test before this.
I knew I could succeed in whatever I wanted to do with my life, but the problem was I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. As students; however, we all process many strengths, mine being that I’m a great reader, but I wasn’t always a great reader. When I was in first grade, I was placed in special education because of my poor reading skills. Now this helped me a lot, by showing me where my weaknesses where in reading. Consequently
I hated to do this so as I said before, this teaches that lesson of what’s right and wrong, therefor learning civility. As I got grew up I learned something every year. In first grade I learned that when older people help younger kids out for a whole school year you can really learn a lot. We had 8th grade buddies that were there every morning waiting for us in our classroom to talk to us before the school day started. Our teachers were very old and wise so they knew that this wouldn’t just be a learning experience for the 8th graders but also the 1st.
Changes in the teaching of the new math curricula versus the basic teachings are getting better for some student coming up learning math especially in the K-3 school. Another Phi Delta Kappan article called “Parrot Math (Criticism of Why do teachers want to use their strategies instead of learning new ideas their student come up with? The subject of the matter comes up as teachers can also learn from student as well. While a teacher teaches one way which might be long-term for a student, the student might find a different short-term way to solve their problem or equation. This is the kind of mathematics that most parents and government officials recognize as the curricula that they attempted to learn when they were in school.
In my speech, I will express my concern regarding the use of standardized testing to prove a person’s level of success. This issue hits close to home for me. In high school, my GPA was 3.987, and my academic career was full of rigorous courses. I am and always have been a very driven student and taken my studies seriously. When it came time for me to take any sort of standardized test, my level of test anxiety always out-shined my level of knowledge on any subject.
Easy Doesn’t Seem So Easy They said it was going to be easy, that I was going to enjoy Advance Placement Psychology. I guess it doesn’t always work like that for everyone. It was the last quarter of my junior year in high school, registration week. You could feel the stress linger upon every junior as they frantically searched for classes they would take their senior year. Each junior trying to make the perfect schedule for a perfect year, all deciding whether a cruise class or an advance placement was right for them.
There I attended Johnson Primary School. When I had left my previous grade school, I was excelling in every subject and absolutely loved school. I quickly began to hate school once I started at Johnson Primary. The children at Johnson Primary were learning math in a different way than I had been taught. This is my first year in the ESL class of Essex County College. I have learned many things in my ESL 103/104 class. But there are things I`ve done well and wrong. Also I would like to evaluate this year in terms of how I improved my English skills (speaking, writing, reading and listening). Most of the things I've done well in this class.
Entry 2 I hate Mid-terms. How are we supposed to remember every little detail that we learn? I have been study a lot and getting ready for them. I got an A on the quiz in trig which made me feel more eager to get back into school and get the good grades. My visits with Berger are making me feel a lot better.
Admissions Committee, Being born and raised in Shippensburg I have always wanted to attend Shippensburg University. While in elementary school I was diagnosed with dyslexia and a slight learning disability. I was placed in the learning support program in the second grade using an IEP I was able to excel in all subjects maintaining a high GPA throughout high school. I excelled at mathematics and science courses often tutoring other students during free time. I am proud to be a 2010 graduate of Shippensburg Area Senior High school where I have found memories of the teaching staff and all the help they provided.
