Managing work priorities and professional development I had never really thought much about way in which I could development and manage my work priorities. Nor had I though how ways I could develop new skills could not only benefit myself not only in the work place but also in my personal life. I most definitely use what I have learned in my personal life and work life especially. I believe there are many effective traits to be coming a good leader; one would to know the learning styles of my fellow workers and to be able to learn new skills to keep a competitive edge. 1 What makes a good role model and how would I ensure that I acted as a role model for employees I supervise? The Oxford dictionary defines a role model as “A person looked to by others as an example to be imitated.’’ A good role model is someone you aspire to, that being said who doesn’t look up to someone with great traits, liked by all and does their job well. I think the most important thing to ensure I would be a good role model is to practice what you (I) preach! You need to be consistent and an all-round nice/good person I would try my best to be friendly and encourage people to do as I do NOT do as I say. When you're a role model you have an important role of doing the right thing, even when it’s hard. So I do my best to keep very firm to my morals and do what’s right! 2 What are the traits of an effective leader? Do I have these traits? How would I develop these traits? I believe an effective leader is someone who is confident. If they are confident they know what they are doing and they have a calm and professional attitude. They aren’t afraid to speak up or defend themselves if necessary. Oxford dictionary defines the term confident by “feeling or showing confidence in oneself or one’s abilities or qualities.” So I confident leader would be just that, confident in
