During the period between 1865 and 1895, cattle ranching in American had many different changes, with men almost going to war over the rights to move their cattle over homesteaders land and many people became very rich. Many changes occurred over this time period, and there were many reasons for these changes and these can be put into 3 different phases. The 1st phase was the great cattle drives. There were 2 key people who helped turn the cattle drives into a success, the first was Charles Goodnight. Goodnight bought and ran a ranch for 11 years, he cross bread Hereford and Texas longhorns to provide a cow that was tough but had good meat and ran a herd of about 100,00 cattle.
Career Development Plan Summary Suzanne Alexander University of Phoenix September 13, 2009 Career Plan “An organization is only as good as its employees.” This quote can be taken not only from research articles, but from any great leader that realizes their employees are an integral part of a company’s strategy. The process of hiring and retaining valuable employees depends on how well management follows the necessary steps to implement the career development of the employees of Kudler Fine Foods. After the restructuring of the company, I have chosen five new positions and will present a plan that will benefit the employees, as well as the organization. The first position will be a regional manager that

2. What are the basic issues? (Please list at least 4 and explain each with one sentence) (6 pts) The key issue seems to be cost, first and foremost. Carson Manor’s costs were approximately 14% higher than state averages on a per-bed basis, something which clearly needs to be addressed. Another key issue is the bureaucracy within the structure of the command chain; there is a convoluted hierarchy and this could have a negative impact on the efficiency of operations for Carson Manor as decisions take a long time and there may be a lack of responsibility as there are many groups and boards which make decisions, rather than an individual manager which may be the case at a private institution.
There is a need for expansion; however, there is also a need to meet the requirements put in place about locally grown and produced products as well as high wages for workers. There is also a lack of ability to make “SMART” business growth decisions by the owner. Analysis Current Situation Monforte Dairy (Monforte) is a specialized cheese company currently being run by Ruth Klahsen whose background is in the culinary industry. Her business background comes from this foundation and has thus set up Monforte in a similar fashion. She has grown to have a loyal customer base as her cheeses are agriculturally sustainable, use locally produced products and uses healthy methods of producing her cheeses that does not harm the environment.
Despite CanGo’s initial success, however, the organization is not without its fair share of concerns. The primary issue with CanGo is that it lacks a formal strategic business plan. The company has also failed to clearly define what its short-term goals and long-term goals are and how it plans to go about realizing those goals. The company also has problems with its current organizational structure. Although roles are clearly defined, CanGo often succumbs to a centralized form of decision-making, with Elizabeth Bennett micromanaging to such a degree that the decision-making process almost becomes paralyzed.

After spending six weeks in the Marketing Department I am keen to further my studies with an investigation into Muller’s competitive advantage. I attend to use the research detailed below and apply this to Muller Dairy in order to assess its competitive advantage over its monopolistic competition. Sustainable Competitive Advantage In the recent economic climate many companies are fighting for superior performance to gain a competitive advantage. According to Dibb (2006), a sustainable competitive advantage is an element, or combination of elements of the business strategy that provides a meaningful advantage over both existing and future competitors. Competencies of an organisation represent the most sustainable element of a business strategy because these are usually difficult to copy or counter.
Eby, Butts & Lockwood provide a reason behind the diminishing concept of a stereotypical career: ‘Given today’s more volatile and unstable organizational environment, individuals can no longer expect lifetime employment within one organization or a steady climb up the corporate ladder’ (Eby, Butts & Lockwood, 2003: 689). However, it is now becoming normal to have several employers and roles within many different organisations during the course of a career; not to say the traditional concept of a career has completely diminished, it is now just unusual to remain employed by a single employer for an entire career. A boundaryless career can be defined as ‘a career that unfolds over time in multiple employment settings’ (Van Buren, 2003: 132); considering that one individual can have numerous employers throughout their career this changes the balance and relationship between the employer and employee. From an employees perspective not being tied down to one company can provide an autonomous
