While a good part of the House did not feel it was necessary to pay for such programs the majority of the House saw the importance it plays in every English speaking/non English speaking American and the opportunities it allows for in the future when it comes to communications. Around 500 political subdivisions in 31 states are forced to offer bilingual assistance after this vote came out with the majority supporting bilingual assistance. (Press, 2006) Of those 31 states only 5 must provide that assistance across the entire state. Those states being Alaska, California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. In closing, the importance of bilingualism, from my point of view is evident in everyday life.
Assess the importance of TV debates in US presidential elections [15] Many critics of TV debates would argue that they are not greatly important. Contemporary commentators now argue that presidential debates, since their conception have had any serious impact on the outcome of any election. For many of the general population, the debates will have very little effect because they think that hours of dialogue does not make for good TV, a key example of this is John Kerry who was widely regarded as having won all three of his debates in 2004 against George W Bush but did not receive a bump in opinion polls. Another remarkable factor of the presidential TV debates is how news outlets and the media have a tendency to highlight a specific moment, often a gaffe, and make this the top story, such as George HW Bush repeatedly looking at his watch making him appear bored or as if his time was more important elsewhere. All the debates offer is an opportunity to see a President laid bare without the constant media spin and give the American public an opportunity to decide what to focus on.
Often they try to communicate with the teachers who often could careless if their students pass or fail; they also enter their child in to a charter school lottery which contains a very small chance of their child being enrolled. The documentary states that “up until 1970, U.S. schools were the best until President Nixon visited China which gave birth to global education competition” (Waiting for Superman). Since then “the U.S. ranks 25th of 30 among industrialized nations in math and 21st in science” (Waiting for superman) but the most humorous of the rankings is that “the U.S. ranks 1st of 30 in self-esteem” (Waiting for Superman). The cost of sending students too school grew from “four-thousand in 1971 to nine-thousand today, but the reading scores stayed the same. The documentary features two educators who try to create a system that will create higher success ratings in the public school system.
“[We live] in an abundant society where people have laptops, cell phones iPods and minds like empty rooms” by far this quote really does describe our society because we get everything we want yet we cannot grasp how to use proper literacy. Though 75 years ago children would read for fun because it was the only thing they could do like an example: would be African-American children they had to share one book with three other kids but could not complain and young children would always have some that would read to them. Lee is trying to yield out to the generations of the next ones saying your knowledge may be wrong if you get it on the internet, Lukudu 2 but if you read a book you could obtain more information and you can open up to more concepts. I absolutely
I know that if you eat too much acidic food than you can get wicked bad heart burn to the point it feels like your heart is on fire. This movie would definitely change how I eat at Mcdonalds!, no more chicken nuggets for me after I saw how they made them. Morgan had started to have very bad chest pains once he started to eat all of the Mcdonalds in one month. It was hard to believe that there were seventeen different Mcdonalds in New York City in that little town. People say that it is Mcdonalds fault for them gaining weight, but what they don’t understand is that they have the choice wether they should eat it or not, or even how much they eat.
This is the truth. In Africa, many children die every day, just because they don’t feed. They can’t find anything to eat, so they have to die, but In America people and children die every day, just because they eat too much. They have many things to eat, but they prefer to eat unhealthy foods and they die because of this. You can see the differences easily between these two countries.
Wal-Mart Domination Wal-Mart is the largest corporation in America and has stores throughout the country and world. Many people have different thoughts and viewpoints of Wal-Mart and the debate over whether it is good or bad for America is still in question. Wal-Mart is the second largest job supplier in the United States behind the government. However it pays their employees minimum wage which is nearly impossible to live off of especially if you have kids. Wal-Mart like to portray itself as a seller of American products however the main problem is that it outsources all of its work and is full of shelves with items mad in foreign countries, mainly China.
While ,in Algernon's case, he is always receiving food from the women around him, rather than providing for his guests .This fact also observably proves that the men’s weakness in the high society. He also is aware of how mismatched his food consumption makes him in high society. He even comes out and tells Jack later in the play that "When I am in trouble, food is the only thing that consoles me”. It was not common for a man to speak of flaws, fears, or feelings at all .In our traditional thought, a man should be iron enough to bear all the problems he came across. While in this play, the food becomes a key point to help us
Also, not many people know about this illness so the donations for ALS funds are always low. Not only does this campaign grab people’s attention to know more about ALS, but it also makes many open their purses. There are many people who don’t usually donate money, but with the help of ice bucket challenge, people are willing to donate money for the ALS fund besides playing it. This game does help raising money, according to the report above, the donations added up to about five times the amount the society usually receives annually. Some argue that the campaign wastes water.” Look at those poor Africans, they don’t even have clean water to drink and you are here playing ice bucket challenge to waste water?” they criticize.
They often neglect key local and state developments to focus on national news that will attract more people (Murray). Some critics argue that they harm the youth because the youth naively relies on them as a substitute for the news (Murray). Yet this argument lacks merit because a recent CNN study has revealed that The Daily Show viewers “were better versed in 2008 election issues than citizens who frequently turned to traditional mediums, such as newspapers and TV news stations, for the latest in current events
