Love Promises Love promises are meant to be kept, but does everybody do it? Why do people make love promises when most of the time they know they will not keep them? And why does the other person believe in them? Why is it that we need love promises? They promise you the earth and the moon, but in the end you feel disappointed. After listening to one promise after the other you reach the point where they are just words, meaningless words. But apparently you need to hear them. Why is it so? Some people think that one can make a promise because at that very moment those who make promises have the intention of keeping it, but then life shows them that everything, even the strongest feelings, can change. And after a broken promise they feel betrayed. Others may think that making a promise will make the other person feel secure and pleased at the same time, but then again, if you do not keep your promise they will feel miserable. And others just think they can make a promise in order to be polite and of course not expecting the other person to take them up on it. Finally, there is a group of people who think they make love promises because they really feel like it. Feel like what? I am not sure yet; but probably they refer to love. Maybe, that is the reason why they commit themselves to the other and unconsciously they wait for the other person to act in the same way. It is like a never-ending promise, as if they were proving their love by doing this. They do need these love promises even if they are just plain words. Whether you agree with one of these groups of people or not, it is simply a matter of opinion. You may think, what is the point in making a promise if you are not going to keep it? So then again it seems we need these promises to feel that somebody cares about us. No matter whether the promises are truly sincere or not, we just like to hear them;
