Ralph's attitude towards Piggy in the first chapter is a negative attitude towards him, because Piggy is intelligent and is closely tied to the world of adults. 3. Piggy’s plea to join the expedition, the idea that Piggy is a bit of an outsider, has to ask permission, he is the voice of reason, provides glasses that can be used to produce fire. 4. Ralph is elected chief in Lord of the Flies because he is holding the conch, which in the book symbolizes power and authority. 5. The “scar” that is repeatedly mentioned is the area that was damaged by the crash of the plane. 6. Jack was initially unable to kill the pig because he was a schoolboy who was the head boy in a choir and he had never had to kill anything before in his life. 7.
