Trading weapons, human and drug trafficking, and groups of prostitutes are all things that may be involved in international, or global, crime. There are some nations that do not follow rules or guidelines and that are sold nuclear weapons by other smaller, less powerful nations. One of the issues that has been taken way out of control is human trafficking. This can include any type of business, from department store to restaurant, no matter how large or how small. Shoplifting is a form of theft and theft is a crime. Not only is shoplifting a crime against a store, but also against society. This is due to the fact that there are other hidden costs involved with shoplifting that affect our community and society.

In the 18th century, English courts felt they needed to develop and enlarge the definition of larceny. They made a new offences called embezzlement which included misappropriation of property after lawful possession. Embezzlement was punished much more severely because it involved a breach of trust. After that, larceny by trick was created to punish those who obtain personal property by fraud or deceit in order to get the victim to agree in handing over property.
Cloward and Ohlin argue, that the majority of criminals involved in the drugs trade were unable to succeed within capitalism and were driven to an illegitimate means of obtaining wealth. Cloward and Ohlin further argued that as people were driven into this illegitimate structure they tended to join existing deviant subcultures i.e. the drug subculture as in the case of the drugs trade. The theory does well to explain many crimes of the working class as they are unable to succeed in a society driven by middle class values, however Cloward and Ohlin’s subcultural theory fails to explain the crimes of the powerful whom already have achieved economic wealth through legitimate means. Plagiarism is stealing someone else’s work and passing it off as one’s own. In many other cultures, plagiarizing is encouraged because it demonstrates familiarity and respect for the work of noted writers. However, in the United States and at Columbia Southern University, plagiarism is considered fraud and can have serious consequences.
