America began on small businesses and America has to continue to have small businesses to have a good economy. Wal-Mart endangers businesses all over the country because small businesses cannot compete with the superpower on account of Wal-Mart getting goods from places like China. Most people live within thirty minutes of a Wal-Mart and with their lower prices people will continue to shop there without realizing what they are doing to their own economy. Most people don’t realize that saving a few dollars by shopping at Wal-Mart is crippling all the local businesses around their area. Wal-Mart does not care about the American economy because they are thriving the way the economy is now, so American citizens have to stand up for their communities.
After the first dig through the trash I found that 84.61% of have been could of been recycled and after dig number two I found that 59.25% of that trash could have been recycled, and lastly after dig number three there was a whopping total of 80% of trash that could have been recycled. Altogether 74.69% of our trash could have been recycled! Now I do not know what beliefs or values my roommates have about the environment but in regards to my values and my trash it is clear that I only talk the talk and do not walk the
His environment is bland with the same monotonous motions “ it being Thursday afternoon…lean on the register” (Updike 133) of cashing out groceries. Its safe to say that Sammy is classified as a middle class individual and like most middle class individuals he spends most of his time working. He lives a few minutes away from the beach were all the wealthy individuals spend there summers, but he doesn’t get the time to be part of the
Walgreens is known as a pharmacy, yet the pharmacy counter is usually located in the farthest corner with no signs or design showing customers how to get there. This layout goes against their advertising of being convenient, since majority of its customers are only there for a quick trip to the pharmacy. Also, Walgreens stores are highly filled with unneeded merchandise. They come off to customers as overcrowded and with the portrayal of merchandise stacked all the way to the
In some cities they had to actually post arm guards on garbage trucks, people were scavenging for food, people would swamp the garbage truck when they would dump the garbage at the dumps. Production was down particularly of wheat, but there was enough out there but the only problem is transportation and storage system. They were dumping milk in the street as a protest, we didn’t have the system to transport milk from for example Wisconsin to Boston, it couldn’t be done so there are people that are starving in Boston because you couldn’t get the food to them. This is really a crisis and the country knows, Roosevelt knows, if you don’t fix this soon the public will put in dictatorship either on the right or the left. Dictators are very efficient they get things done on time.
It showed millions of people the dangers of smoking tobacco. Many people stopped using tobacco because of Jeffrey. Some who might have begun to smoke in the future did not because of his bravery and integrity. Also, the State demanded reimbursement for all of the smoking sicknesses that was caused by the lack of information from the company, which cost Brown and Williamson billions of dollars. Today, Jeffrey Wigand is living in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
The first thing I thought of was a homeless person on the side of the streets begging for anything anyone could spare when I saw the phrase “beggar’s cup”. When honestly comparing the two doesn’t make any sense, I mean a person on the streets with a really bad luck, or more likely bad choices has nothing in common with a hardworking person. A worker who gives you a great customer speedy service should be rewarded. The two situations are completely different. Most of the time in my case when I out and I tip because I can see a person walking as fast as they can with their hands full plates with food and drinks trying to make everyone feel happy and satisfied.
No Impact Man Colin Beavan made the ultimate life-changing sacrifice by doing the No Impact Project. In the book No Impact Man, Beavan’s methods were probably a little improbable to the average Joe. One of the methods Beavan did was turning off electricity completely in his apartment to stop releasing carbon in the air. Also, Beavan bought food from only a 250 miles radius and only used reusable grocery bags. Though Colin Beavan completely changed his lifestyle to make a positive impact on the environment, not everyone can completely change because of the lack of time, discipline or capital, but we can always cut down on the negative effects that we apply on the earth.
Even I cannot get a good health care here, how about the homeless? Can’t believe that, there are too much homeless here. When you walk through the downtown of many cities in California, like San Francisco you can see homeless people everywhere. Usually they sit on the street and begging for changes from people. The only thing they have might be just a piece of blanket or a weak dirty dog.
Dear, Mr. President How does society fix the problem of homeless people wandering the streets, holding signs saying anything will help. How do we deal with the thousands of homeless people blocking the roads and sidewalks and disturbing us for just a few cents, well I present you with a brilliant idea. First, we need to house them. We will do this by sending them to live in landfills where they can salvage cardboard boxes and plastic to build houses. They can salvage any materials from the landfills and assist in helping the environment.
