(Neuman,2005)The environmental aspects of urban consolidation is quite different with in developing the form of urban sprawl. In high density areas, there is only a few natural vegetations, which include trees and grasslands and etc, are found within the buildings, roads, and parking areas. So it makes harder for the inner suburb to have a cleaner environment without planting large amount of vegetations. To sum up, it has both problems and benefits by developing the urban consolidation but the advantages of consolidation is more convincing , making th consolidation form as a more sustainable and livable plan
Preventing a crime from taking place clearly outweighs the cost of reacting to a crime that has already taken place. Instead of sending out random patrols, information systems can use this task force in a more efficient way, by sending them to high yield crime areas during high yield crime times. As technology continues to advance and improve, so will these information systems. Everything has some sort of weakness and information systems for preventive policing is no exception. Although the system itself is fair and objective, people using them are not always so.
However, when decentralisation occurs, urban centres suffer many negative impacts. Urbanisation is the process of inner city functions and powers dispersing and redistributing away out of city to more sparse areas, usually on rural-urban fringe. Manchester is a particular city that has both suffered from decentralisation, but has also been somewhat successful in its attempt to tackle this issue. During the 1950’s, shops located in the city centre tended to only sell high order goods such as furniture and jewelry, attracting customers from all around and from out of the city, whereas shops selling low order goods like food were found local to individual neighbor hoods. At the start of the 1970’s, shops began to move and spread away from the CBD to areas on the outskirts of the city.
Offering work programs that help prepare young people for management or skilled positions is a good way to take crime off of the streets while showing to the community that the business cares about the welfare of the population. This can help bring in a group of potential profit earners for the company while at the same time reducing crime in the stores and the surrounding neighborhood. The improved reputation could only serve to bring in shoppers who are more prone to visit the larger and cheaper chains such as Walmart. While this will incur immediate liability costs as the plan is enacted, the end result benefiting the shareholders is a cheaply trained future leadership staff, an improved reputation for the company as a whole, and a long term boost in
Commercial goods can be transported across the country much easier than before. Anything from food to toys are easily delivered from one side of the country to the other. For most commuters, highways are taken for granted. Without highways, things like getting to and from work or visiting family may take much longer. People who work in cities would have to liv closer to their work, and therefore suburbs would be much less popular and
4). Therefore, poverty levels may play a significant role in the murder rates of these two cities. The clear difference is that Baltimore has a higher percentage of people living in poverty and that many of the residents live just above the poverty line making Baltimore’s economy hard to live in considering the
They find that shops, cafes and restaurants along the road provide a sense of community and make people feel safe and welcomed throughout the day, although there seems to be a difference in views on the road after night fall, people tend to feel more insecure of the area, become more fearful of walking to and from the local social organisations, many people avoid walking at all costs and would prefer to get a taxi even for very short journeys. T he road is described as rough by members or the community although it has not always been known like this, many people that have lived in the area a long time are saying they used to be able to walk around happily and with no fear but things have changed, the amount of takeaways, bars and restaurants has caused more violence and crime within the area due to attracting a different crowd to what it used too. The local police officer ‘PC Bob Keohane’ feels differently about the area explaining that the road is safe 24hours a day as long as you have your commonsense. The way that people feel regarding an area can be down to their own imagination, their own perspective, what they see when they walk down the street and their own experiences and the history they have within the area. If you walk down a street and you see graffiti, vandalisms or litter you instantly presume that the area is somewhat rough and begin in your minds to become fearful from what
The High Street was once the main through road but since the arrival of the bypass in the 20th century it is not as busy as it once was. This produces less traffic throughout the town creating winners by reducing the volume and pollution but with the possible lack of business to local shops,
There for cutting down on the consumption of fuel and less traffic jams. If you cut down on how much fuel is being used and how many highways are being built just to accommodate these vehicles you’re making a bigger disaster than most people think to the environment. Owen makes these ideas clear that less space and more transit means less energy and fuel. He realizes that even though many find the idea of New York actually being a green city ridiculous that in many cases it is very true. The living space is scarce but less energy is being consumed and wasted, and the transit not only lowers traffic but places less fuel in the atmosphere than what is really
