Living in a dorm vs. a commuter Living in a dorm was an experience that I always wanted to encounter. Students have the opportunity to live on campus and learn how to be responsible on their own. They are away from family and friends, its new and exciting at times. Commuting to school can be nice because students can be home with family and friends. Students are able to do much more because they are home and not living on campus where there are a lot of rules. Commuting students have a considerable amount of freedom. It is a different type of freedom because living on campus students do not have to worry about their parents. A commuter can go back and forth and does not have to worry about the rules living on campus. So students living in dorms do not really have to worry about traveling back and forth to school, and they do not have a lot of time to themselves vs. a commuter but they both have a share of responsibility. When living in a dorm students really do not have a lot of time to themselves because they have to share rooms with other students that are attending the college. They have to be considerate of each other and set some ground rules so that there will not be any confusing between them. So when going around asking students about how their life is on campus they said it has its pros and cons. One of the students said that she does not get to see her family and friends that much. She does not get that much privacy because she is rooming with her sister and back at home they have their own room where there, she can have a moment to herself once in a while. She has to share a bathroom with other students on her floor or whoever comes to visit. If someone comes over to visit she has to be responsible for whatever they do. If anything on her floor gets broken and it needs to be fixed or something that is really revolting and it needs to be cleaned she is
