The USPS has many important needs for the economy and record keeping of this nation. Therefore it is very necessary that it restructures itself to keep up with constant change in society. As the USPS is right now, it will fail to advance any further. People have no interest in sending paper mail when email is much faster.
In the twentieth century, there was a rapid growth of technology. Beatty believes that “Things began to have mass” as people started switching to motion pictures, radio and television from books. “Everything boils down to the gag, the snap ending”, after the development of technology, people no longer needed books as they got addicted to technology. The society gradually eliminated books as people thought books were inappropriate in many aspect like they urged people to think that they were inferior or superior to other which caused jealous people, Society was doing instead of thinking. The growth of technology minimized socialization among people.
He says technology is eliminating the need for them because you can make chips much simpler with a computer than a human worker. So yes, it seems that the more technology we are creating the less highly educated workers we will need. Section 2 is where he goes on to talk about the working classes and how since 1990 the U.S job market is “hollowing” out. The high and low paying jobs are increasing while the middle wage jobs are all disappearing. The reason for the job market turning this way is the fact that technology hurts those who do physical work and helps those who work with their mind.
I would take the time to explain a few things to her. While it may be true that computer prices are dropping, that doesn’t mean that a company should wait to purchase to new computers just because there is a chance that the prices will drop even lower. Depending on how long she waits to purchase new computers, the employees could be so far behind on the latest technology (software and hardware) that the company would need to spend extra money to send these employees to trainings. Information systems hardware is rapidly evolving; therefore, it is important not to get too far behind on “the latest and greatest.” If the company does not purchase the new computers soon, they may lose business to their competitors who do have up-to-date equipment. As far as being 100% effective goes, the employees may still be able to effectively do their jobs, but she has to take into consideration the fact that by not getting new equipment, the methods in which they do their jobs is outdated.
Wheatley mentions the counterargument that because parents are working so much more these days, they are spending less quality time with their children. Another negative effect of the technical world is money. The financial costs to maintain a life full of technological equipment puts a heavy strain on the pocket. Wheatley mentions that Americans “are not purchasing their cell phones for the long term” (784) because they know that soon enough a new version or upgrade will be available and want to purchase that one instead. Therefore, Americans will be spending even more money to keep up
Our economy is based on consumer production and if the population discontinued their use of places like these, our entire economy would go down the drain, probably taking other countries down with us. Most of America’s products are not made within the States. If the demand to make more products for our country falls in other countries, their economy will crumble as much as ours will. Sure, it is good to occasionally help out a charity and donate some money, and yes, iPhones are not needed to survive, but our economy will collapse if consumer production ends, leading us to be the ones in
They would rather get their shopping done without having to think about anything having to do with the political process. The other is the fact that the US residents just don’t want to bother with the process at all. In the US, the lack of automatic voter registration is often touted as one of the most significant factors keeping people away from the polls. According to the survey done by political scientists, most of the unregistered citizens fall into the young age group of 18 to 30 years old. These young people pay more attention to their colleges, marriages and careers than any other things, which leads to the neglect of voter registration.
We need to lessen the social media use and start using our time to think and improve this world. Bradbury is correct. Our world today is greatly affected by television and other types of media. If this continues on, our world will be in trouble. I believe that there will be no more face to face communication, only electronically done.
Smart Phones, iPods, iPads, Tablets and many other forms of entertainments and life facilities equipments are from the fastest growing forms of technology addiction, especially among teenagers and children. Even though life can’t roll nowadays without such facilities, Smart technology has become a two edged weapon, people are becoming more preoccupied with this technology and unable to control its use, and are jeopardizing their family connections and relationships. The excessive use of smart technology is reforming our society, our relations and our existence. It is difficult to estimate how widespread the problem is, but according to the American Medical Association, up to 90% of American youngsters play video games and as many as 15% of them-more than 5 million children- may be addicted (Tanner 2007). In addition to the
Mainly affecting my generation, jobs that should be given to college graduates are not even open yet because senior employees are staying in companies when normally they would have retired. Social Security also poses an issues because younger generations are paying into the “baby boomers” social security. The main scare is that it will run out and those that paid into it might not even be able to receive it when needed. This is causing drastic changes in the world affecting all ages and all kinds of people. Unfortunately this issue really cant be addressed and the world will just have to adapt to the fact that people are living longer lives.
