Li-Fi (Light Fidelity)-The future technology In Wireless Communication

Nowadays people often get frustrated by the unstable and slow speed wireless network in the coffee shops and libraries when more and more people have tapped into the wireless network and stole your bandwidth from the same area. One German physicist – Harald Haas, has a solution he calls ”data through illumination”, by sending data through an LED light that varies the intensity in a fast rate the human eye cannot follow. The invention, which he calls D-Light (Data-Light) can provide data transmission rates up to 10Mbit/s, which is faster than the average broadband connection. He predicts in some day every LED light bulb can become a high speed network access point as well as an efficient light source.

Lifi is transmission of data through the illumination of the LED light bulb that varies in intensity in a speed faster than human eye can follow. Li-Fi is also used to label the fast and cheap wireless-communication system, which is the optical version of Wi-Fi. The term Lifi was first used by the Lifi founder – Harald Haas in his TED Global talk on Visible Light Communication in the year 2011. “At the heart of this technology is a new generation of high brightness light-emitting diodes”, “Very simply, if the LED is on, you transmit a digital 1, if it’s off you transmit a 0,“ Haas says, “They can be switched on and off very quickly, which gives nice opportunities for transmitted data.” 
In recent research results at the Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin, Germany, have reached data rates of over 500 megabytes per second using a standard white-light LED.
