Knowing the nurse’s preferred learning style increases self-awareness of their strengths and weaknesses as learners. Understanding their strength and weakness can motivate them to enhance their learning skills and quite possibly their willingness to incorporate other learning styles. The way nurses choose to “take in and learn from specific kinds of learning material and activities” depends on their learning style (Graf and Kinshuk, 2010). As a visual learner, the nurse prefers to learn things best through seeing written material or making pictures of concepts. They learn better by having things written down in a handout versus someone telling them how to do it.
When we watch the videos the teachers were thinking out loud and discussing the little voice in her head that tells her things while she is reading, like “oh I have no idea what I just read” or “hum I wonder who this person is?” or “wow that’s neat!”. The students were able to connect with her and start thinking about reading and listening to the voice inside their head they then wrote or discussed with a peer what they thought about the reading passage. A literacy activity I could do in my classroom would be a think aloud. I could explain exactly what I am thinking while reading a passage, then have the students read another passage and practice talking about what they read and where thinking to a peer. I could also incorporate highlighters or underlining strategies to incorporate note taking and thinking while reading into this lesson.
What are preferred learning styles? Describe some preferred learning styles. There are three basic types of learning styles. The three most common are visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic. To learn, we depend on our senses to process the information around us.
For example,in my placement,my friendly and polite attitude towards reception children makes it easy for them to bring their complaints to me;if they are hurt or hit by somebody. My active listening also encourages a child to build a positive relationship with you. As a teaching assistant, I have to understand and overcome the barriers to the communication in order to maintain healthy relationships with children as well as with young people and adults. E valuate how learning activities have affected practice There are several ways of learning and only by learning can we affect how we practice our work in a more improved efficient manner. I believe we learn more by our mistakes, which from that knowledge; we can then improve the service. A theory known as Lewin/Kolb cycle puts into practice a learning activity which should then improve future practice. The general theory is as follows: 1) concrete experience -where something happens to you or you do something, even an everyday event. 2) Reflective observation-where you think about it.
In particular how they keep the classroom under control but also make it a fun place to learn. I will also look closely at the learner, this being the child. They need to be mentally stimulated, otherwise concentration is lost. I want to look closely at how this level of concentration can be obtained and at what levels and at what time span does their mind begin to wander. I will also look at behavioural patterns within classrooms, from this I will see how behaviour can be kept under control to make the classroom effective.

Teachers use rubrics to assess students, they make it much easier, more consistent, and objective. They also help teachers focus better on key concepts. By making a work model (rubric) for students to use students will be able to improve and increase knowledge students will acquire. Teacher can better justify student grades by using a rubric that clearly shows where the student rates according to the rubric.
Auditory learners of the audience will benefit most from the transfer of information through listening to the spoken words of the speaker. Visual learners learn best by seeing or visualization of the material. These learners will benefit from the powerpoint that will be incorporated with the spoken education of the teacher. The power point would include pictures of adolescence who have eating disorders, diagrams displaying statistics and risk factors for the development of an eating disorder, as well as a handout that will be provided that will list the signs and behaviors that each parent should watch for. Tactile learners learn best by moving and doing.
