A.1.a. Pre-K Strengths Because of the ever changing demographics in our system this can be very beneficial and has some great advantages with our program. With more non-English speaking children coming into our system this is encouraging our teachers to learn another language. In return it is helping with the language barrier we are facing in our current days. Our system could also look into hiring more teachers with the added benefit of speaking multiple languages and creating more jobs in our area.
It also can make it easier than in the past for a student who switches schools, because now schools broadly have to follow a similar curriculum. The national curriculum was introduced to enable assessment, which also helped to compile league tables. League tables (1988 education act) are another change that has helped the education system. League tables are used to compare the academic achievements of different institutions and parents can use them to decide which school they want their child(ren) to go to. Using league tables is a good thing as if you want your child to go to a good school, you can chose the one most suitable with good education and exam results.
I also feel that by having DAP there are fewer struggles to get our children to engage in the program. The material that is presented in a developmentally appropriate manner is more interesting to the students and would naturally grab their attention. I feel that a textbook based curriculum would be inappropriate for kindergarteners because children at this age are at the beginning stages of reading or do not have any prior reading skills. The aim of DAP is to foster our children’s optimal learning and development. I feel that a textbook based curriculum for a kindergartner would be trying to use a one-size fits all approach to teaching.
Without an appropriate background, teachers can inadvertently isolate or alienate LEP students who need to feel like they are “part of the instructional setting” so a positive self-image is preserved (Carrasquillo & Rodriguez, 2001). Often, LEP students need special language programs which will supplement their learning needs fairly. Because of the rise of “immigrants and high fertility rates among linguistically and culturally diverse groups in the United States,” (Carrasquillo & Rodriguez, 2001) the number of students in need of special resources such as language development programs and better trained teachers is significant. Educators need to adapt teaching styles to fit the needs of these students because they are important of our country’s diverse
Most seniors do not think about careers the last year of school, and definitely do not think of the next four to seven years they will spend preparing for one. Senior year is a waste because most seniors are not being prepared for what is to come after graduation. Seniors are held in high school another year so they can experience what is left of their childhood. If it was not for all the activities senior year, would senior year be important, would senior year still be a part of the high school curriculum? My senior year I evaluated these questions, and felt they were logical to ask.
In example, if a student gets by in his English class not caring and not trying to learn, but his teacher likes the student so he passed him, when that student goes to college he will have trouble because he doesn’t know how to write a correct essay because he was given the grade. “Ten of thousands of 18 years-old will graduate this year and will be handed meaningless diplomas (Sherry 510). This shows most students have high school diplomas but
Giving students an opportunity to create every day will keep them engaged in learning, keep frustration at bay, and lead to happier, more fulfilled children. Also, art and music stress cooperation much more than math an reading do. Students can learn to work together, plan together, and create together in these classes, whereas in a math or reading class they may be competing, or simply not interacting at
He believes uniforms help parents as well as the students. The private schools are no longer the only schools requiring the students to wear uniforms. I agree with Kelly’s proclamation that uniforms increase studying and take pressure off of parents. I also believe that uniforms help students to see themselves differently from the inside instead of just the outside. Generally schools require students to wear uniforms for the desire to increase the students’ academic levels.
These skills will be very useful as children grow and develop in their personal and professional lives. Through divorce and a blended family, children can learn to be more self-reliant. Because of work schedules, school functions and extracurricular activities, parents my rely more on the children to take more responsibility for things around the house. There is also the potential to learn to do less with more. With prior financial obligations and the possibility of more children in the home, many blended families don’t have the financial freedom that a lot of natural families have.
Studying multiculturalism can be especially important for high school students who can find it difficult to accept people from other countries into our day to day lives. This is so for a lot of adults as well as students adults can find it annoying that they come over here and “steel our jobs” But they have just as much right to earn money as we do after all they are often here because their homes are not safe or perhaps they just want a new start. Also if we have more of an understanding we would be able to understand any refugees we met and they would have an easier time readjusting to our way of life. After all refugees are just people who have nowhere else safe to go so they come to us for help we should accept them into our country. Knowing more about where there from and how they live will help us to do so.
