INTRODUCTION It is always good to have a sustainable, positive atmosphere in the class room, for it makes learning fun for learners and teaching easy for educators. There are a number of aspects that can be used to create a sustainable, positive atmosphere in your classroom but in this paper a few will be discussed that will be, learner motivation, communication, interpersonal relations between learners and the educator, the maintenance of discipline and my classroom discipline policy. A positive atmosphere can make a classroom a more pleasant place to be and, in turn, a more effective, motivating place to learn. It's simple to do, and it can have positive results on the achievement of students. LEARNER MOTIVATION Motivation is something that energizes, directs, and sustains behavior; it gets students moving, points them in a particular direction, and keeps them going. (Fredricks, Blumenfeld, & Paris, 2004; Maehr & Meyer, 2004; Reeve, 2006). A directed and energized student will surely have a positive impact in the classrooms atmosphere. Motivating students create eagerness for them to learn. As an educator I know that virtually all students are motivated in one way or another. One student may be keenly interested in classroom subject matter and seek out challenging course work, participate actively in class discussions, and I personally believe that class discussions and debates keep students motivated to learn. I would make time for discussions and debates every week or whenever I am going to start a new chapter in a learning area. COMMUNICATION Effective communication is essential for a well-run classroom. Although this sounds simple and obvious, it requires much more than a teacher saying something out loud to a student.
