The test that examines more in depth of leadership styles produced a somewhat predicted outcome. I know that my style and personality are strongly linked to achieving a task to completion. There are few times where I put people’s concerns or worries ahead of the task, generally when necessary but defaulting to task at hand as priority. I don’t believe that I’m inconsiderate of people as my style is to be balance the work loads and give people an opportunity to achieve their directives. This allows me to focus more on the issue at hand and worry less about people’s opinions.
A laisse-faire leader will allow his team to make their own decisions and determine their own approach to completing the task at hand. This also means that the team gets very little help or guidance from the leader. Some people prefer this style of leadership because they like to manage their own work, at their own pace, as well as being able to make their own decisions. But on the other hand, others may prefer to have guidance throughout their project to make sure they’re on the right tacks. Laissez-faire leadership can be effective in situations where group members are highly skilled, motivated, and capable of working on their own.
Decision making with your employees will let them gain respect for the leader and become more determined. This style will bring strength between you and your employees. Laissez-Faire-This style is used when the leader is lazy or distracted, it’s more of a you do what you want style. This style can be used when the team is highly capable and motivated, it’s when the team doesn’t need close monitoring or supervision. This style can cause failure when the leader expects the group to make the decision between themselves when they are un sure about what they need to achieve and how they need to accomplish the task.
In the public services, these types of leaderships will be used within different circumstances, authoritarian is best in urgent situations but laissez-faire is better for those who are experts and know exactly what they are doing and don't depend on a leader, they are similar because they both focus on the task in hand but one is directed every step by a demanding leader, sometimes, authoritarian could be bad style to use as it could make the other team members feel under pressure and lack motivation but leading in a laissez-faire manner will make the members feel more important because they have freedom to work the way they feel best. If there was to be a car accident, authoritarian would be a better approach because whether it was ambulance, police or fire, they will need to get the victims to hospital and road cleared as quickly as possible but it'd take longer if the team didn't know what their roles were and what they were
That would be my first best practice. When employees know the procedures and policies they are required to abide by, and the procedures for how discipline is handle it will make situations easier to handle since all this was informed of ahead of time. It will also provide employees with an understanding that if they do something wrong so and so will happen, before hand which can deter employees from doing that certain act in the first place. Not every company has a set polices or procedure for how discipline is handled therefore this can sometimes create panic for some employees who may fear they loss of their job, simple guide lines by a supervisor can be given as to what may happen to employees when certain actions are taken or not taken. Supervisors should always be aware and encourage employees to discuss any issue with them.
It is of utmost importance to carefully choose the people we associate with, as we are greatly influenced by our own peer group because they can assist in developing a strong individual identity. We usually feel more secure when we know that we have others around us who share our goals and care about our progress. Being part of a peer group fosters the idea that we are accepted and loved for who we are. This is why change is often difficult for certain individuals because suddenly, you are cut off from your regular group, who you have become so familiar with. We sometimes seem wired to adopt the goals of the people around us, particularly when we develop a close relationship with them.
* Effective Decision Making is vital to a team’s progress. Team members should be aware of various methods of decision making and when and how to use these methods. This will enable them to collect the information needed and understand and problems to enable them to make the right decision. * Balanced Participation to make sure that all members of the team are fully involved and actively contributing to discussions and meetings. By listening to everyone’s opinions they will feel a valued member of the team which will improve their wellbeing and job satisfaction.

Authoritarian Authoritarian leadership is a very direct leadership style where the team members MUST do what the team leader has said, if the work is not completed efficiently enough there will be consequences. This approach is not generally considered to be the most appropriate way to get the best response from a team in ordinary working life, but in the armed forces where urgency and pressure is needed to succeed, it is a necessary leadership style.
