Language as a medium for communication binds together our thoughts and ideas for verbal and non- verbal cues towards our daily conversation. Language is dynamic which is keep on changing in a way that others speak differently and miscommunication happens if one will not adopt and fully accept their language. Gay lingo has been prevalent throughout the Philippines, and was initially used by the homosexual community as a tool to communicate with each other. The propagation of this form of communication is an unstoppable. Their language makes them unique and to be known on their own way, thus denotes of their creativeness and a means of defying cultural norms and creating an identity of their own. The use of gay lingo was first used to avoid other people hear what you are talking about but nowadays it is being used overtly and even straight men used their language . If you think about it, gay lingo is nothing but a hilarious play of words. They just add something to the Visayan root word like “Gu”-Tom Jones to mean hungry. Others are just twisted to fit a new meaning like “Chaka ra ang ngu” to mean ugly. Most are just spurred of the moment word inventions they decided could be good enough to fill a gap in conversation like churva and char or maybe to define an indescribable event or happening such as ek-ek. There are so many challenges that they encounter most especially in judging and bullying them either in social media or even in personal but no matter how you pulled them down they will always find away to prove that they are strong and not easily throw a towel in every game of life. Instead all should respect of what and who they are equipped with fair treatment and embedded with good values.
