A Mothers Message To Her Son
Langston Hughes poem, "Mother to Son" Seems to express the mother’s journey in life and how she’s gone threw great struggles. It seems that there is no father figure for this son in the poem; this may be one of the son’s struggles. The mother is giving life advice to her son about the up hill battles she has faced and the ones her son will face. Analyzing the videos they all portray different message weather or not they display the best representation for the poem is the real question. The poem is meant to have a firm portrayal a “ this is how life is” message that explains that life is not easy and you cant just sit down and think what if. In these videos they display a few differant portrayals all strong messages however the contents of this poem have strong meanings like the objects that symbolize life difficulties in the poem. The portrayal of this poem needs to be just that, strong and firm. All of these videos share the same message however some portray messages that work to provide different production of the poem.
 The theme in the poem is determination and some courage. Since the poem is displayed from a mothers view you get the since of a warm motherly message. The accent indicates that the mother is southern and has a strong grasp on the meaning of hard work. In the poem this mother figure is a strong trust worthy parent who only seems to want to help her son in the best way she can. A realization on life and clear message to send to him that he will never forget.
Langston Hughes uses symbols in the poem that relate to life. “Tacks” is one symbol Langston Hughes uses that represents discomfort and sharpness of life. In Langston poem these obstacles stand in the path of life and can stop some individuals however that’s the hurdle in life.
