These Local Area Networks, or LANs, are fairly simple to create, with the right education and experience, and commonly use wired connections in their implementation. But by using Wide Area Network (WAN) and LAN functionalities together, LANs can be used to configure smaller parts of a larger network and gain better wireless capabilities. Within the field of LAN Network Design, there are many factors that can increase the size and strength of the LAN. Among these factors include IP addressing, physical location of devices, and cabling of devices. One of the most crucial factors pertaining to LAN Network Design is IP addressing. “Every networked application and device -- from e-mail and Web connectivity to file storage and networked printers -- depends on IP and requires address assignment” (Dawn Bedard, The importance of IP address management. Networking information, news and tips). As the quote states, IP addressing is crucial in LAN networking because it provides a means of identifying and locating hosts or networking devices on the network. For example, say you buy a house in the middle of nowhere, and the only thing that is near this house is a single strip of road that goes to your home town in one direction. And in the other direction is a large city that is somewhat far. However, you realize that you did not receive the address for your new house. Then how will anybody know where you live? How will a friend or family member know where to go if they want to visit you? This same concept applies for end devices connected to the network. If a
